Open Thread
This is an open thread for discussion of news and events for the next few days, or to leave an opinion - let's hear something! We have a rainy day here in the USVI (we need it - we just bought water on Tuesday) and I am busy working on adding our travel engine to other islands.

MY PERSONAL RANT FOR THE DAY - GET YOUR BUTTS OFF THE BEACH!
The beaches in the Virgin Islands are among the most incredibly beautiful in the world and I cherish time on them when I have a day off.
However, cigarette butts don't belong on them! The tideline is littered with soggy butts because people (locals and visitors alike) churlishly stub their smokes out in the sand (or toss them off the side of boats into the water) and leave this highly non-biodegradable material to sit and fester.
I'm not on a general anti-smoking rant because I too am a smoker. However, it's very simple to extinguish your smokes, take your butts with you and properly dispose of them elsewhere.
Please, please, get your butts off the beach!

ANNA: You are SO right. I smoked for 20 years and quit in 1979. The Army taught me how to "field-strip" a butt, and it was easy with a Camel, Pall Mall, or Lucky Strike... harder dealing with filter-tips. It is trashy to see butts discarded anywhere, especially in my yard and on our USVI beaches. The trouble is, ANNA, that the smokers who trash will not read our comments.
