Friday, 11/27

Cathy, Norm and I are up for the sunrise. This would pretty much become the routine for the week.

We decided last night that we would prep the coffee each night so whoever got up first could just press the button and enjoy the first cup of the day. A very good idea indeed! When we tired of coffee, we moved on to Bloody Marys and stared out to sea as the rest of the crew staggered out to greet the day. I hit the pool first and noticed something hanging under the lip of the patio in the corner of the pool. It turned out to be a very large tarantula! Two tarantula wranglers sprung into action - scooping up the spider with the pool net and removing it from the vicinity. Not far enough away in my opinion but we never saw it again so it was fine.

We deployed Billy and Manley in one of the jeeps to recon the area. They returned shortly having hit Starfish Market in search of cigars (they didn’t have any) and declared that the villa was easy to find so we need not leave a breadcrumb trail when we head out later. Everybody was moving kind of slow and the pace suited us. We cooked up bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches late morning then headed out to find a beach. We found our way to Trunk Bay. Paid the $4 apiece and declared it to be worth every penny. Beautiful white sand beach, amazing water, not too crowded but it was mid-afternoon at that point.

We enjoyed the beach for awhile then headed for the Fish Trap for drinks and snacks. Parked right out front and enjoyed ˝ price frozen drinks, conch fritters, tuna bites and calamari - good stop. Billy and Gorilla walked to Woody’s and bought some cigars. I got directions to Uncle Joe’s BBQ from the hostess for future reference.

Off to the Starfish Market. I should point out we took advice from the board and started a ‘villa kitty’. We each put in $100 and used that for villa supplies for the week. This worked out really well. Anyway, we needed to pick up a few more provisions - to the tune of $300. We decided to do a ‘protein of your choice’ night. Everyone picked out what they wanted and we made grilled veggies and rice pilaf for the group. Manley played grill master and cooked up steak, salmon and Johnsonville sausage - everyone was smiling as we watched the sun set on day 2.
