USVI-On-Line: St. Croix Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews:

Chenay Bay Resort 02/25/02
Reviewers Rating: Fair
My first visit to St Croix on 2/16/2002. It would have been a better experience if the management of Chenay Bay resort provided better services for it's guests. I knew that I would have a studio with a mini kitchenette. However, the room was so tiny there wasn't room to think in private. My daughter and I couldn't eat at the same time because there was only one chair. I was informed that the Resort offered shuttle service into Christiansted, 3 miles away, which is why I didn't bother to rent a car. Not only was shuttle service not provided, but the nearest store to purchase groceries was a $20.00 taxi drive away. By then, there was a waiting list for rental cars. I desperately wanted milk for my young daughter, and prior to learning that there wasn't a store within walking distance, I was sent on a wild goose chase by a receptionist searching for a store. I walked for an hour before returning to the resort, exhausted and frustrated, without any milk. They wouldn't allow me to purchase milk from the only restaurant on the premises. There was also a stray cat that roamed the restaurant searching for it's next meal. Management stated that the cat adopted the resort for it's home. It didn't exactly whet my appetite, as I don't care for cats.

The rooms were provided with a cheap bottle of champagne. Bottled water would have been more beneficial, because the water was so salty, you couldn't drink it.

I hope to make my next visit to St Croix more enjoyable.
