USVI-On-Line: St. Croix Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews:

Carambola Beach Resort 04/17/2004
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We just returned from a 5 day stay at Carambola and can't say enough about it. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the grounds are gorgeous and the room was unbelievable. The room was huge and included a sitting area with a couch, desk, rocker and coffee table. The screened in porch had benches and cushions along 2 sides with a table in the middle. The view of the ocean and the sounds of nature filled the room. The bedroom had a king-sized bed, dresser, and TV with remote. The bath/shower combo was a room of its own with a 2 person walk-in shower. We have never been in a more beautiful place. We never needed the A/C as the breeze off the ocean and the ceiling fans kept us cool. The main restaurant was a bit pricey but the food was good. The pool was clean and just the right temp. We went for peace and quiet and that's what we found. There were not many guests and we had all the privacy we could desire. There were families there that spent most of their time at the pool or the beach. There is not a lot of entertainment there, but we weren't looking for that. You must rent a car to truly enjoy the island. Budget rental is right on the grounds so there is no excuse for feeling trapped. We enjoyed scuba diving, the Cruzan Rum factory, and shopping in Christiansted. The best place for dinner was right down Rt. 80 at a place called Lobster Reef. The surf and turf dish is to die for. We enjoyed our restful stay at Carambola Beach and came back to Ohio renewed in body and spirit.
