Westin Villas 07/31/01
Reviewers Rating: Stars Excellent
My wife & I stayed in a Studio Villa @ the Westin Resort from 6/28-7/5. The Villas are on the north side of Shoreline Road, across from the Westin "hotel", for lack of a better term.

The room has A/C, ceiling fans, a king-size bed, and a porch that has a partial view of Great Cruz Bay. Equipped with washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, range, coffeemaker, toaster, blender, fridge, 2 TVs, stereo/CD, safe, hairblower, and iron & board. Laundry & dishwasher detergent was provided, as was Starbucks coffee & suger. It also had dining table w/ 4 chairs, a pull out sofa-bed, and a couple of cushioned chairs. All of this furniture was slightly too crowded for the space allocated, but was appreciated anyway.

We could have used a can opener for opening juice-type cans, coffee mugs (I hate teacup-type coffee cups!), and a carafe to keep regular coffee in while my wife was brewing her decaf.

Both bath & beach towels are provided. We used the latter when we went to the beaches. Daily maid service was excellent. No beach chairs provided, but we brought small portable ones w/ us.

Each tier of villas (there are 2 of them) share a decently-sized pool (but no hot tub! drats!), beach lounges & floats, and a small charcoal BBQ grill, which we used.

We had full access to the health club & tennis courts of the Resort. But it is a bit of a hike to walk from the Villas to the Resort, especially coming back. The driveway is steep, especially getting to the 2nd tier. A shuttle runs back & forth between the Resort & Villas. We rented a car. Taxi to Cruz Bay cost $3.00 p/p one-way. The Westin also provides free ferry service to Charlotte Amalie during your stay.

Tropicale Market is a short walk away to get provisions. We either ate downtown, or bought food at either the Tropicale or Starfish markets & prepared it at the villa. Food at the Westin itself is very pricey!

We would definitely stay here again, but our travel agent informed us that the Westin made the Villas available to us by mistake, and they no longer can be booked.
