virgin islands on line : st. john : hotel & villa reviews

Reviewers Rating: Excellent
After reading Andy’s (Ground Freeman) review of this villa, we were extremely worried about what we were going to find. First let me dispel some of Andy’s comments, and then I’ll conclude with my own thoughts. I really felt like we stayed at entirely different villas.

The bedrooms: The villa never represented the two bedrooms as 2 master suites. Yes, of course the master bedroom is far better than the second bedroom. The second bedroom is great for a couple of kids or for another couple (with a 65-35% cost split would be my suggestion). The second bedroom is large with a nice private bathroom (has a terra cotta tile enclosed shower). The master bedroom is great with a private deck, vaulted ceilings, and a bathroom with an attached outdoor shower that hangs off the cliff. What an experience! In the master bedroom, you’ll wake up to the most incredible views!

The kitchen: The kitchen is modern and spacious with a large walk-in pantry. The appliances are updated and there is plenty of room for socializing when preparing a meal. The kitchen opens up to the dining area which has a large table that seats six (but you could easily fit 8 around it).

The living room: Gorgeous and comfortable. There’s another half bath in the main living area. An extra bonus was a mini pool table that our kids really enjoyed. By the way Andy, there was a huge pile of firewood right outside the front door, DUH! The living room opened up to the incredible veranda which had unobstructed views on 3 sides. Wow, what a place to watch the cruise ships leave St. Thomas or the sunset. There was a nice dining table out here and tons of comfortable furniture.

Other: The pool was larger than it looked in the picture and they cleaned it right before we got there and again during our stay. Yes, leaves fell into the pool since it is set in the middle of a wooded area – that’s why a skimmer is provided. The grill worked great. There were plenty of beach chairs provided by the villa (at least 6) and the linens were fine (I didn’t expect big fluffy towels like at the Ritz)! One caveat – the cooler provided by the villa is small so bring an additionally collapsible one if you have more than two people in your party (there is plenty of blue ice in the freezer).

Caribbean Villas: They were great. We arrived on the last ferry (midnight) and they were waiting for us on the dock. Our villa was stocked with food (compliments of CV) because they knew we’d be arriving late. They checked on us at least twice during the week with a phone call to see if there was anything we needed. I wouldn’t hesitate to rent from them again.

Also, don’t let fears about the road to the villa dissuade you. The road is no big deal as long as you have a jeep and was actually fun to navigate. The villa is centrally located to both north and south side beaches and to Cruz Bay and Coral Bay. This villa was great. We were sad to leave it and wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
