Destination St. John's Two Bay View 01/27/03
Reviewers Rating: Great
My husband and I stayed in Destination St. John's Two Bay View for a week in early June 2002 for our honeymoon and loved every minute of our experience! The villa has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a wonderful breezy deck and patio, kitchen and living area. The price was borderline for us (under $150/night), but the privacy was valuable!

The house is a two story octagon with a basement. The master bedroom is on the top floor and has a vaulted ceiling with an oculus-type skylight and ceiling fan over the bed. The fan, along with the tradewinds coming in through our screened windows was heavenly at night and very comfortable during the day. We would lay in the sun on the top deck in the morning before heading out for the day. One half of the walls on in the bedroom had built in bookshelves that were full of really interesting books, which the villa owners would allow you to borrow (as long as they returned to the correct place). The bathroom (sink with counter, toilet and bathtub with a shwower) was nice sized and had all the towels we needed.

The living space was on the ground floor, and through a sliding glass door, you had access to the deck, the stairs leading down to the patio, and then stairs leading down to the basement level. The wicker furniture with it's brightly colored cushions were comfortable for lounging while making dinner.

The second bedroom and bathroom were in the basement and were kind of cramped, but we didn't need the other bedroom, and my husband used the second bathroom (toilet, sink and shower stall), which he liked having his own space. The hot water is "created" by a solar water heater on the roof and therefore the hot water was touch and go, but we survived! (I tend to take long showers though!)

The view looked back onto the island and down on Great Cruz Bay (directly at The Westin Resort's beach) and Chocolate Hole. The drive up the hill was really effortless and we were about 5-7 minutes from town. The gravel driveway was a bit tricky to back out of, so we would back into it, which made leaving in the mornings easier.

We loved this little villa - very romantic for 2, but this year we think we'll spring for a little more money for a view out to the water. If you want a cheaper villa to stay in that's close to everything and has great breezes, this is the spot!

Good luck!
