We had gone to St. John before and stayed in a condo but decided to splurge this time on a villa for our anniversary. Wow. Could not have picked a better one; we're spoiled now and don't think we'll ever rent anything but a villa again!
We loved Perelandra. Plenty of room for the 2 of us but not so much that we felt like we were 'rattling around.' I liked that the staircase connecting the 2 floors (& bedrooms) were interior, not exterior (a couple others we considered were exterior which I wasn't as comfortable with).
The views were absolutely, drop-dead gorgeous. We spent most of our villa time on the decks looking out over everything but even inside, I just couldn't keep from looking outside. Even when watching tv late at night, I kept staring out at the St.T. lights. The sunsets were great...we ended up eating in more than we thought just because we'd always rush back to the villa to catch the sunset, then just want to linger. 1st thing I did in the morning was to open BR doors to see the view, then get my cup of coffee and, yup, go and sit on the deck again to watch the world go by and soak in the beauty.
We loved the pool. Plenty of privacy and sun (sun from about 10am on but access to a shady lower deck if needed). Just the right size--large enough to enjoy but small enough to be heated by the sun (important when you like to jump in for a last skinny-dip before retiring :-).
Location was great. Just a few minutes from town (Cruz Bay, restaurants, shops, ferries) and those awesome national park beaches. Really nice and convenient to everything, which we were glad of after a hard day of beaching, swimming, and snorkeling (sounds funny, but it DOES make you tired!); not to mention some rum punches.
Landscaping was pretty; inside was very nice; very nicely decorated...I really LOVE a couple of their pictures, wish I knew where they bought them. We had everything we needed, inside and out plus beach chairs, cooler, towels etc for our daily beaching. Loved the showers.
Altogether a VERY relaxing, comfortable, wonderful stay and really one of our best vacations ever. We're already talking with our friends about booking Perelandra together this coming spring; in the middle of picking the dates. Can't wait.
Oops; almost forgot--very quiet, except for the tree frogs, etc. I was worried there'd be construction noise etc after everything I'd read, but really no construction going on around the home at all. You'd hear cars going up the hill once in awhile but that's all (couldn't see 'em).
