Sea Scape 12/13/03 12/23/2003
Reviewers Rating: Great
We rented the Sea Scape villa thru Carefree Getaways last year. About two weeks before we arrived in STJ we received an e-mail that Sea Scape was under new management and now being handled thru Caribe Havens. We were a little upset and were thinking that something was up and it wasnít good. We replied to Caribe Havens to see if there were any changes, etc that we needed to know about. When we arrived all was well and Nancy from Caribe Haven was very nice and went out of the way to welcome us to the Island and take us to our villa for the week. Sea Scape is a very nice villa, but it is older and a bit worn or rustic. It was perfect for what we wanted. We were told the owners have another property for sale on the Island and maybe once that is sold, they will do some updating to this villa. It was mentioned to me that this villa is like a tree house and it did remind you of that. It was very private, and we never even saw the caretakers while we were there. It had everything that we needed for a week stay. The multiple decks connected all the different buildings with a deck along the whole front of the villa overlooking the water. The beds were comfortable (king in the main house, queen in other bedroom), and the kitchen was well supplied. It doesnít have air in any of the two bedrooms, but we didnít need it in December. It seemed there was always a nice breeze blowing thru the place. I would imagine that if you were there in the summer it would be nice to have air. It has a very nice lap pool along the side, and we are both swimmers so that was a big selling point. The pool only gets partial sun in the afternoon, and was nice after being on the beach all morning to come back to take a refreshing dip. It also had a hot tub, but it is by the far end of the pool and not very close to the house. The other bedroom is away from the main house and has a small kitchen and full bath. This bedroom also does not have air. A large wooden deck connects the two buildings together. If your looking for something new this isnít the place for you, but if you like rustic and homey places this would be a sure bet. We wouldnít hesitate to go back there. It was overlooking Chocolate Hole and the views and sunsets were beautiful. Not a bad drive either to get to town which was about a 5-10 minute drive. I would say you definitely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get to the villa. The driveway is large enough to keep two vehicles. This was our first time to STJ and renting a villa and we were not disappointed at all. If you have any questions please send me an e-mail. I took some pictures of the place if anyone is interested.
