Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We just got back from staying 9 days at Palm Villa on Gift Hill. We rented through Caribbean Villas. We were totatlly pleased with the villa and the agency. This was our first stay on STJ.
VILLA: It's a 3 bedroom, 4 bath home with a loft that has 2 twin beds but no privacy. The 3 bedrooms have A/C, but the breeze was always wonderful & even with the late afternoon sun it never got that hot. The master bedroom suite is in a building to itself off of the living room. It has a real nice sitting area with couch and CD player. The bedroom area is raised up about 3 steps with a king bed, dressers, tv, large bathroom, closet, and nice large outside shower/bathtub. The main house has a nice sitting area living room with CD & TV, an alcove with a desk and books, games, etc. Dining table for 6 but 8 could fit easily. Kitchen very sunny and fully equipped. Off the dining area is a full bath and laundry room with washer & dryer. The outside deck has a nice dipping pool, plenty of chairs, tables, loungers, beach chairs. A nice gas grill and dining table for 4 to 6 under the umbrella. The other 2 rooms are off of the pool deck each with a queen bed and outside shower. The pool area and deck are completely private so all over tanning is an option.
LOCATION: Palm Villa is on Gift Hill Road and is only about 10 minutes into town and 20 out to Coral Bay. The road in is paved and then the rest is gravel. There's plenty of parking and the grounds are well maintained. There's pretty flowers planted and in pots, lots of deck and garden lighting at night makes it pretty.
STAFF: The gardener came once while we were there and same with the pool people. The house was very clean on arrival. I own a housecleaning business so I have a built in white glove, can't help it. Definately passed my test.
LINENS: Nice quality bed linens, thick bath and beach towels. Nothing old, or worn out. Plenty of dish towels, beach towels, etc.
APPLIANCES: 2 good tv's, 3 cd players, nice blender, toaster, and microwave. Good dishwasher & fridge was good. Washer & Dryer worked great.
SUPPLIES: Laundry detergent, dishwaser soap, cleaning supplies, all necessary paper products, all the bowls, utensils, and dishware you could need, nice plastic glassware, spices, soap, flashlights, books, island information books, and a notebook full of things to do, candles, large cooler, beach chairs, no float or soft small cooler.
VIEW: The view from this villa is awsome, Great Cruz Bay directly down below, Chocolate Hole to the left, Cruz Bay to the right and St. Thomas out to the west. We saw beautiful sunsets, watched the lights come on in STT, and all the boat traffic in Pillsbury Sound.
ANIMALS: No pet cat, just a pet rooster that cockle doodle dood all day long (I actually missed him today). Lot's of lizards, some cows wandering around mooing, a large iquana down the hill a bit, a brown bird that demands to be fed bread crumbs, and the bannaquits that love their sugar water. NO creepy crawly things or rodents.
AGENCY: Caribbean Villas was great from the very beginning. Very professional, but not overly friendly. But everything they said they'd do, they did. The staff on STJ was very nice and even called to check on us. The fresh flowers and candles throughout the villa was a very nice touch, and one that we enjoyed.
The highlight of our day would be late afternoon - early evening sitting on the deck with the bananaquits & their cocktail and fluttering about, watching the sunset, the cruise ships leaving STT, and the lights coming on over on STT. At some point we'd fire up the grill & have a simple candlelight dinner, with tropical drink. Better food and view that at any restaurant.
We had only a few mosquitos during our stay, so hardly any need for bug spray, but bring it anyway.
We'll stay again, and will definately use Caribbean Villas for any other villas we might rent.
