Ristaba 07/06/2004
Reviewers Rating: Stars Excellent
Ristaba Villa is in Chocolate Hole North. It has excellent views of 4 bays (as said on its website). It is very spacious and well laid out.

We rented both the house and the cottage through Lisa Durgin at Vacation Vistas. Lisa was great to deal with and very patient (O: She had some stuff in the fridge for us when we got there which was nice. I can't say enough nice things about Lisa.

Having the main living area upstairs was nice. It has lots of cieling fans and ventilates well. The kitchen is nice also. Our only problem with the kitchen (or the whole villa for that matter) was that the refridgerator had trouble keeping all of our stuff cold. I think the fridge needs to be replaced. We ended up buying an ice chest to keep the beer and milk cold. The flow of the house is great. We spent alot of time on the porch overlooking the bays.

Having the bedrooms downstairs was nice for coming in out of the pool to get dressed and some quiet from the crowd upstairs. The only complaint by the people in the rooms off of the pool is that there were no curtains on the windows so everybody could see in from the pool. The a/c worked great in all of the bedrooms. The bedrooms in the main house were a good size too with large bathrooms.

The cottage was a downsized version of the main house. A little bit separated from the main house. The rooms were small - especially the room with the twin beds - I stayed in that room and liked to refer to it as our cave. It was small and not decorative, but when I was exhausted, I came to like our little cave. The cottage had a full kitchen that we never used except for the refridgerator. The hot tub was at the cottage which meant that it didn't get much use being that we all tended to hang out at the main house.

The pool was very deep; most of us could only stand up right next to the steps. This may be as a safety precaution because the upstairs balcony is such that someone crazy enough may just try jumping from the balcony to the pool. The pool was great though, and the view fron it was nice.

When you look over the balcony, you can see the Westin straight down from the house. There were two other villas really close and one being built back by the cottage. We could hear the people in the one just to our left every time they came home just as I am sure they could hear us. We couldn't see anyone in the other villas though. It didn't bother us.

There was an iguana (Nubby) that came around some and tons of hummingbirds.

I would recommend Ristaba to large crowds that need the space. It is close enough to town that we went into town frequently. Good location and great views.
