Second Wind 12/01/2004
Reviewers Rating: Stars Excellent
This is an addendum to my previous review on 2/13/04. I responded to a forum question with a bit more detail than my original review and it was recommended that I re-post a review....

We liked Second Wind. There was a lot of breeze in the living area, as there were two screen doors that you could open up - one facing the water and one facing the pool.

The bedrooms have A/C, which we probably didn't need to use, but tended to use while we slept - felt good after a long day in the sun.

The kitchen area is very small and not a lot of counter space. For us, this was not a big deal as we only ate breakfast at "home". I would imagine if you planned to cook dinners in the villa, you could find the kitchen a bit small and difficult to prepare a big meal.

Each of the three bedrooms is identical. One in the main house and the other two in two separate strutures - all on the same level. This house would be good for two or three couples or a family with older children.

All three bedrooms had identical bathrooms, with outdoor showers - a nice touch. We had trouble getting the hot water to work in the bathroom in the main house - but I'm sure it was just us. The hot water in the main house is either diverted to the kitchen or the bathroom - I'm sure if we put our minds to it, we would have figured it out, but we found it easier to just use the shower in the bedroom across from the pool.

The deck was beautiful - though it is made of rubber, which was a bit odd. Plenty of seating - both in the sun and the shade and a beautiful view of the water. The pool was nice - a bit small for laps, but worked for us to cool off. Hot tub was nice - clean and in good working order.

You definitely have to take some bumpy, unpaved roads to get to Second Wind - but what fun is staying in STJ if you never leave the pavement? We were only a short (100 yard?) walk to a path (very steep) that leads to the water - and a 30 minute walk down the beach to the bottom of the Reef Bay Trail. This was nice because I am not sure we would have ventured over to this side of the island if we weren't staying right there.

Overall, we enjoyed the home.
