We stayed at Windwardside from April 3-10.
It is located in Coral Bay up on a hill over looking the bay and the east end of the island. We have never stayed in a villa before while visiting STJ and didn't know what to expect. The villa is West Indian style home that consists of 2 buildings. The first is a detached bedroom/bathroom and garden shower with a porch that over looks the courtyard, the second building has a screened-in porch, kitchen, living room (with sofa bed) another bath with shower and a covered porch overlooking the sea. The courtyard has a dining table, lounge chairs and a hot tub.
The house is beautifully maintained. Very clean and nicely decorated. We loved having all this room for the price you would pay in a hotel and get only one room and bath.
The owner thought of everything. All the comforts of home. Beach towels, different size coolers, beach umbrella, snorkel equipment and beach chairs. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, pots, coffee maker, filters. You name it and it was available. You even had a gadget to remove crumbs from the table cloth. Hair dryer and lots of bath towels. The water was also filtered so you really didn't have to buy water to drink. They also had a safe for your valuables.
The stunning views of the bay were wonderful. We loved the quiet, the birds, tree frogs, lizards, hermit crabs and even a few cats. The house is very private surrounded by tropical plants and trees.
Every day after our beach adventures we would have our happy hour from 4-6 on our covered porch. So peaceful and relaxing. We really felt like we were in paradise. At night after dinner we returned to our happy place and listened to nature, music and did our star gazing.
Within a couple of miles plenty of good restaurants to enjoy for lunch or dinner. The south beaches were 10-15 minutes away.
The only down side of this house was the road to the villa. It was a dirt unpaved road. The island didn't have rain for 2 months prior to our visit so it was very dusty also. But after the first day we got use to the road and would cheer once we got to the bottom. You need a 4WD jeep for this road. We also cheered when we returned at night to the villa. We did get some rain while we were there and it helped cut down on that dusty road.
We would definitely rent this home again.
We had a fabulous vacation and left STJ very relaxed.
Owner Susan Brierley was very easy to work with. If you rent this house you will not be disappointed.
