We just returned from St John and really enjoyed our stay at Dream Come True. It is a newly constructed villa so everything is in beautiful condition. It is a very comfortable villa with three a.c. bedrooms all with a private bath. All of the bedrooms were nicely furnished and very comfortable. The two upstairs bedrooms had garden showers which were not terribly private. They were beautifully constructed and large, but the walls were so low, that we were a little uncomfortable. Safes were available in the two upstairs bedrooms. The a.c. went out in the downstairs bedroom on the first night, but Caribbean Villas had someone out the next day to fix it and it was nice and cold the rest of the visit. The downstairs bedroom is down a steep, tiled staircase. All of the stairs in the place were tile and were extremely slippery when wet. The owners really need to add some texture to the steps to prevent someone from being seriously injured. There are two steps down from the kitchen to the great room that were trecherous when wet especially if you were trying to take food down to the dining table. I fell and was lucky to only have the skin ripped off of one leg - I could easily have broken something.
The kitchen was elevated and that was so nice to have such a beautiful view - it is amazing to be able to look at such beauty while stuck in the kitchen. The kitchen was nicely equipped. Lots of pans, bowls, dishes, spices, nice appliances, etc. This is our third villa rental in St John and the second with Caribbean Villas. Our first was through VIVA and the kitchen in that house was fully stocked with condiments, spices, even left over liquor. The two houses rented through CV had NOTHING in the frig which makes me think that the cleaning crew for CV either takes the left overs or has been instructed to clean everything out. In any event, if you rent through CV, please inspect the villa carefully before going to the store because you will need to purchase a lot of the basics. We even had to buy paper towels.
The washer/dryer was located in a closet next to the kitchen.
The pool area was a little disappointing to us sun worshippers. It is very small and very shallow which makes it warm up very quickly - not a lot of difference between the temperature in the hot tub and the pool by the end of the day. There was also not much of a view from the pool as it was located at the back of the property. The hot tub had a wonderful view and worked perfectly the entire time that we were there. There were several floats and plenty of deck chairs and beach towels. There is also a half-bath off of the kitchen (close to the pool) and an out door shower for rinsing off the salt water and/or sand. If your plans are mainly to sit in the pool with a good book and a drink, you might want to consider another house. If the pool is not a consideration, then the house is outstanding.
Even though the house has three bedrooms, I don't think that it would be a good house for three couples. There is not a ton of insulation between the bedrooms (not a problem for three singles traveling together). Also the great room is not very large (one sofa and two side chairs). The kitchen accommodated two cooks very well, but when the third tried to assist, it was too crowded.
A few other issues: A REALLY STEEP DRIVEWAY. You must have a four wheel drive or park at the top of the drive and walk down. The walk would be difficult for anyone older or with health problems.
Devers Bay is wonderful, but the description "pebble beach" is very misleading. They are rocks and they are difficult to walk on. You must watch your step or you might twist an ankle. There is decent snorkeling, but be careful entering the water - a sea urchin got me. No, I am not normally a klutz. The area is very quiet and peaceful (not many houses although two had been added since our visit last year).
Caribbean Villas' Rep Curtis was waiting for us at the dock when we arrived unlike last year's visit when we had to wait. He was very nice and helpful. There was a nice welcome basket of fruit, cheese, chips, etc. waiting for us on our arrival.
