Sea Wind Villa
We rented this villa through Caribbean Villas & Resorts and couldn't be happier with the service.
From the very start they were very helpful in finding a villa that not only fit our needs, but also my budget. They have an office on island and the folks were ultra nice.
OK, the villa-it's advertised as a 3 bedroom/3 bath villa. It's really a 2 bedroom with a 3rd bedroom in the loft of the main house. The two bedrooms are in a separate building on the other side of the pool. Each bedroom had its own bath. The master bedroom has a garden shower that 10 people can fit in easy.
The main house has been totally done over since a fire had damaged most of it. The villa agent told us that there was a spark from one of the outlets that caught the couch on fire. The cleaning crew came back just in time before the fire had taken over the whole house. So everything is new in the main house & kitchen. You would never know the place caught on fire. The entire villa is A/C and there is a huge deck around the pool connecting the two buildings. There is a covered walkway on one side of the deck. Each building has a roll out awning that is real nice to keep the afternoon sun out.
Being the cook in the family the kitchen was nicely equipped and has a very nice gas stove. This was even nicer when the power went out because we could still cook.
The kitchen sink seem to have a gremlin in it. If you put the drain plug in and waited awhile the darn thing would start bubbling and gurgling as if something was trying to get out of the pipe. We reported it to the villa agent and never heard back but there was no smell and we figured the house has a little ghost since the fire.
The beds were a bit hard, but after a day of “Fun n Sun” passing out was no problem. The A/C in the bedrooms was working its tail off to keep the room cool. We would draw the drapes when we went out and that help keep the room cool. The A/C in the main house was like an artic blast. Crank it down and you have your own meat locker.
The villa is great for a family. The kids can be in the main house watching TV or playing games while mom & dad can be on the other side in the bedroom building remembering how they got kids in the first place. The pool is large and it never got real hot. The view from the deck is of Chocolate Hole that faces southeast. So the sun would track from right to left pouring sunlight into the villa. It's about midway up the mountain, so we couldn't see St. Thomas.
Out cell phone didn't work from the villa, but we would drive up the hill a little and it worked fine. As a matter of fact, we would park outside this villa to make phone calls and we thought the guest would call the police on us. As it turned out the villa we stopped in front of was where Flip Flop was staying but we didn't know this until the end of the trip.
All in all a very nice villa that you get a lot for your money. Hope this helps.
