My wife and I spent our honeymoon in St. John Livin' from Feb 4-11th this year. The house was still under construction when we booked it back in November so we were a little nervous as to what to expect. However, as it got closer to our vacation, Bookitvi uploaded some new pictures of the house which added to our excitement and ensured the villa was everything we wanted. See the pics for yourself:
The road leading up to this house is extremely steep but paved so our rental Jeep was able to climb it at a steady 15-20mph. Once you near the top of the road, you have to turn right onto a narrow dirt road to get to the house. I would recommend a 4wd vehicle if you are staying at this villa because the driveway was a bit steep and covered in loose gravel. It was scheduled to be graded shortly after we left so maybe it's in better condition now?
The first thing you notice when arriving at St. John Livin' were the amazing views. The first picture on the website above shows the view but certainly doesn't do it justice. The views are absolutely stunning. You basically overlook the entire town of Coral Bay and the East End. I didn't realize it at the time but I ended up taking a lot of pictures from the deck because the view just kept amazing me.
As far as amenities, the house had everything we wanted and more, including a pool AND hot tub, satellite TV, DVD, a wireless internet connection (you have to provide the laptop), washer and dryer, A/C, etc, etc. We didn't use the pool while we were there because the outdoor temps weren't blazing hot but we did use the hot tub several times. As as added bonus, you have spectacular views even while sitting in the hot tub which made it even easier to spend time there. We tended to watch a bit of TV during the evenings so the satellite receiver really came in handy and as an added bonus, St. John Livin' even comes equipped with a small DVD library of about 30 movies. The breezes were very strong a couple evenings so even though you can pretty much completely open up one side of the house we kept the glass doors mostly closed so were weren't too cold while sleeping. Even though there is an A/C unit in the bedroom, you probably won't need it due to the breezes.
I should mention that the house is virtually brand new as we were only the 3rd renters. The attention to detail during construction was obviously great as you'll quickly see as you look around the house.
Bookitvi did an excellent job providing us with assistance getting from the ferry to the house and they even booked us on a day sail at our request. We had one problem with the water running out, but after a quick phonecall, there was a service man at the house who was able to switch the supply to another cistern so we were up and running within an hour or so.
The only, and I stress the word only, downside to this villa was the construction going on at the surrounding villa's. It is something that is hard to avoid these days on STJ so I don't think this is an isolated case. It's a small price to pay for the views and generally the contractors were finished by 4pm or so.
