Dolphin Run 04/02/2006
Reviewers Rating: Great
We rented Dolphin Run from 3/9 to 3/16. It's in an absolutely gorgeous location on Hart Bay. You have sunrise and sunset views. The breeze was quite strong the first few days coming from the east and we usually kept the doors closed on that side. Because the porch wraps around 3 sides, you could find a spot out of the wind and still have great views looking southwest. The pool is situated on the west side of the house so it too was sheltered from the wind. The pool is very private. Some of the positives: I liked the fact that you could access the upstairs bedrooms (3) from inside as there is a spiral type stairway. Our rental last year had 2 bedrooms on the lower level but you had to go outside and downstairs to get to them. The bedrooms were all ample in size and all had 2 walls of sliding doors for great views. 2 of the bedrooms have baths from within. The 3rd has a bath next door. The villa was easy to get to - no steep, unpaved driveway. It has a very attractive entrance when you pull in. There was plenty of privacy. We loved being able to hear the surf. The walk down to Hart Bay was relatively easy and quick. (A nice beach for walking but not for swimming or snorkeling). The house was great for our family of four - we did not use the downstairs bedroom. It would also be well suited to 2 families of 4 (2 rooms king beds - 2 rooms twins).
The only cons are: There could be more lamps. There was only one floor lamp in the living area. Otherwise the lighting is recessed lights in the ceiling. The bedrooms could also use more lighting. The oven was not working which we mentioned to Caribbean Villas so hopefully that will be fixed. (We ate dinner out most nights or used the outdoor grill). We also mentioned to Caribbean Villas that the beach chairs were in pretty rough shape and should probably be replaced. There is some construction in the area but it was not bothersome. We were always up by 7 am when the workers were just starting to arrive.

To sum up, we were very happy with our stay there (and we loved the resident cat who stays outside but is very friendly). You're not far from Cruz Bay (no more than 5 to 10 minutes). To go to Coral Bay, we took Gift Hill Rd. up to Centerline and could be in Coral Bay within 35 to 40 minutes. I would definitely recommend this villa.
