We stayed in Coral Point Beach House (CPBH) for 8 nights starting May 27th 2006. The villa is located on the eastern most point of St John. To get to the villa you drive 15 minutes past Coral Bay. Just before the road ends at East End there is a road that heads off to the left. The road is intermittently paved and not. To get into the little Hansen Bay subdivision you have to (manually) open a gate. Then you drive about 100 yard to the gate to the villa driveway.
CPBH is perched on a point with several villas nearby but the pool and pool deck area still provided nice privacy. Since none of the near-by villas were occupied while we were there we enjoyed complete privacy in all parts of the villa.
We rented from Book-it VI and we received great service and care from them. As an added bonus the villa owner provided a $50 gift certificate for any item form the studio of the island artist Sloop Jones. You drive right past Sloopís studio as you near the villa.
This villa is unique in that it provides water access on both sides on the point. On the web site you will see pictures of the stairs to the ocean side. It would be tricky to snorkel form here as the wave action is vigorous and there is no good entry point. Across the driveway there is a short path to a new set of wooden steps leads down to the water on the bay side. There is a small sandy spot where you can enter the water easily and the snorkeling from here is very good. There are also a couple of Kayaks available that we did not use.
The villa it self is very nice. The owner is a bit of a toy freak and has fitted the place with new flat panel TVís in the living room and kitchen. There is also high speed wireless internet available in the villa should you care to post taunting messages on Virgin-Island-On-Line forum to those still left at home.
The living room is just as the picture present with stunning views in all directions. The open-air kitchen was well equipped for cooking and also sported a Bose stereo system.
The master bedroom would open up completely to both views and breezes. We had trouble in the evening with bug bites so we opted to close up the bedroom around dusk and use the AC for sleeping. The master bath had a huge outdoor (but still private) shower with incredible views and breezes.
There are also two smallish bedrooms downstairs that share a bath that is similar in size and amenities to the master bath, including the huge outdoor shower.
The pool deck is huge and has a brand new Sundancer hot tub with built-in stereo. We spent several night here stargazing.
The pool has no shallow end and is 6.5 to 7 feet deep from end to end. This would not be a good pool for little ones. The pool was warmed well by the sun and was a welcome relief from the heat of the day.
Due to the location of CPBH there were constant breezes everywhere. Even with these breezes inside the villa and out the noseeums and mosquitoes became a problem as the sun set. We usually went to bed with quite a few bites received while we watched season 2 of the TV show 24 that brought with us.
We loved the villa and the remote location.
