First let me say that my (now) husband booked us into Estate Lindholm as a two-night surprise at the beginning of our honeymoon.
Lauren (owner) met us at the ferry dock and took us up the hill to Estate Lindholm. Estate Lindholm overlooks Cruz Bay. It is beautiful. There are garden rooms and rooms that are on the second level of the buildings that have balconies overlooking the bay. We could see the ferries coming in and out and could see St. Thomas. It was really neat. We stayed in the room named after Honeymoon Beach (total coincidence). It is big and beautiful with a nice little kitchen area (sink, dishes, microwave, and fridge) and a huge bathroom! I’m talking about an open shower that could fit five people in it. There is a window in the shower that looks onto the balcony and out over Cruz Bay. There is actually a lounging seat IN THE BATHROOM! There is a nice table, a huge bed, and a television.
Lauren has a huge collection of games and books in the office. If you ever stay there – make sure to check this out first!
At Estate Lindholm, there is a little room above the pool that holds an industrial refrigerator full of sodas, water, and alcohol - an honor bar. You take what you want and write your room name and exactly what you took (makes restocking easier) on a sticky note that goes into a little wooden box. We got to meet Lauren's husband, Brion, and talked to him for a bit about the history of Estate Lindholm and that his parents built it 40 years ago. We asked lots of questions about the plants and trees (like which were native & which were brought in) and found out a lot of cool information. We also met Chris, who lives at the Estate and helps out Brion and Lauren.
Estate Lindholm has a great breakfast. It’s nothing fancy and not one of those big heaping cooked to order deals, but it is excellent!!! Bagels, English Muffins, toasters, jams, cream cheese, FRESH FRUIT, muffins, juices, hard-boiled eggs, etc. It was GREAT! Lauren came around and talked to all the guests at breakfast and we were visited by Angel, one of the two resident cats. When Lauren walks around, you know you’re going to get some great advice & excellent tips. She asks everyone what they are up to for the day and doles out anything she’s learned in her many years on the island. She also makes sure that you know that as a guest of E.L. that you are welcome to the huge stack of clean beach towels, chairs, coolers, and play things located on the property behind the office. She tells you where the gallon size baggies are so that you can fill them with ice from the huge ice maker and pack a cooler for the day.
We were very sad to leave Estate Lindholm and will spend our entire stay there the next time we return to STJ.
