Reviewers Rating: Great
This villa worked out great for our group! We met Jared, one of the co-owners, and he was a terrific host. He led us from Cruz Bay to the house and checked in during the week to make sure that we had everything we needed. He is very accommodating and makes sure that guests are happy.
Starlit Escape has a great room setup with the kitchen, dining area, and family room all flowing together. The well-equipped kitchen has new pots and pans, sharp knives, 2 blenders, plenty of dishes, good ice maker and ice dispenser on the freezer door. It had staples like foil, plastic wrap, Ziplocks, spices, olive oil, etc. The kitchen has an island counter with 4 stools. On the other side of the counter is a large dining table that could comfortably fit 8, maybe 10. Beyond that is the sitting area, with comfortable chairs and couch. It has Internet access.
The great room has a TV, DVD, stereo with hookup to play your iPod, and a shelf of books to borrow. The far side of the sitting area is comprised of 2 large, screened sliding doors that open to a deck with a table to seat 6 and a new gas grill. Views from the deck are greenery and it is very private. Stairs lead from the deck up to the Happy Hour Tower. Rope lighting leads you up the steps to the tower, where you will see a view of hillside homes and a partial view of the water. At night, the view of the stars is amazing! Thereís an outlet up there for the blender.
Off the great room, a hallway leads to the bedrooms. At the far end of the hall is a master bedroom with attached bath with shower and its own deck with a hammock. Across the hall from that is another bedroom. A third bedroom has a king bed that can convert to 2 twins. This room has a ladder leading up to a sleeping loft with 2 double beds. This loft looks over the 3rd bedroom and great room. The 3rd bedroom/loft setup is great for kids. A hall bath with shower is across from this bedroom.
A second master bedroom is on the lower level. It is accessed by going outside and around the house on a path (with landscape lights) so it is private. This bedroom has its own deck and bathroom with shower.
An outdoor laundry room is accessed from that path, as is a hose and a dunking tank for getting sand off your snorkel gear.
The pool is accessed by using the path in the other direction around the house; there are no stairs leading from the main level deck directly to the pool, but there are steps leading from the pool deck to the lower deck and hammock. The pool is small, but this didnít bother us, since we were at the beaches all day. The kids had fun playing in the pool at the end of the day, and we hung out on the pool deck.
The house has high ceilings with ceiling fans in every room and on the decks. It doesnít have AC but we wouldnít have needed it because we got terrific breezes day and night, and the fans worked very well. Some nights I turned the fans on low (or even off) because the breezes were so good.
The drive to the house includes some hilly and bumpy dirt roads. This didnít bother us, but itís not for everyone.
The lot is nicely landscaped and there are some nicely fragrant plants. It is very quiet and private. Some other extras include beach chairs and plenty of beach and bath towels.
This is not a luxury villa, but it is a very nice, well maintained house that had everything we needed, at a good price.
