Excellent stay in Vistaero. The pictures on the Destination St. John website are accurate, but the view was even better than the pictures show. It's a sweeping view across the south shore, all the way west to St. Thomas. You can see the sunset from the pavilion by the pool. The website pictures don't really capture the fact that the rooms are very large, and the decks are very spacious. It easily accomodated our large group. Five bedrooms, two upstairs. Master has king bed and sofa bed, second upper level bedroom has a queen. Lower level bedrooms all have queen beds, two of them also have sleeper sofas. The interior spaces are all up to date and in good condition, the bedrooms were nicely furnished with good A/C (auto temp control). Baths were modern, with granite counters. House was very clean.
Forgot to add to my previous review that there is a wine cooler in the kitchen (works great for keeping beer and sodas cold too), two sets of washers/dryers (the one upstairs is newer although the dryer takes a while), and that the villa is high enough up that there were great breezes.
We were there during the worst of the recent mosquito bloom, and there were none at all the first few days. On the worst days, there were some up at the house, but nothing like down lower in Cruz Bay or on the beaches. We were really glad we had chosen one so high up.
Also, FYI for those who may be nervous on St. John's roads. The villa driveway is paved, but has two steep switchbacks. If you are not spooked by the Northshore road switchback between Trunk and Cinnamon Bays, or the Gifft Hill to south shore road switchbacks, you'll be ok. If those switchbacks terrify you, you may have trouble with the driveway. After one or two drives, it was fine, we figured out the best line of approach and made it easily.
