Reviewers Rating: Great
I was on STJ with my 16 yr. old daughter, 2 other adult female friends, and 2 other college age girls from June 16-25. I really enjoyed Nautilus for the price. The only reason I don't give it a 4 star rating is the lack of a pool (which we certainly knew going in) and a leaky ac that dripped on the master bed. We pulled the bed away from the walls and put towels down, but it was not fixed during our stay. We ran all the bedroom ac's and they cooled very well, just had the one leaky one. I'm sure it is fixed by now.
The house is very clean, well equipped, and totally bug free. I saw one dead June bug on the deck. I've never seen such a bug free villa on STJ. The kitchen has everything you need and filtered water from the sink and frig, and the frig makes ice faster than mine at home. Not a tone of leftovers from other guests, but the normal seasonings, oils, mustard, sweetner, and such. I'd check for supplies before going to the store.
The bedrooms are not equal, so I would not recommend this villa for 3 couples, but it would work great for a family with a few kids. The master bath has a very large bathtub which I loved every day, with good water pressure, and a nice shower which I never used. Lots of storage and plenty of towels. There is a bedroom that is beyond the master bath and shares the master bath, but we were a group of women and teen girls, so no big deal. The other bedroom was across the house, has newish nice furniture, queen bed, great ac, and normal bath across the hall. The living room has a nice TV and lots of movies and quite a few channels. We didn't use the stereo, but it seemed to have a nice set up. There is also a dining table in the LR area that will accomodate up to 6, but we never ate there.
The best part of this villa is the outside veranda, which is totally awesome. The breezes (wind at times) never stopped, especially in the morning. It was almost cool at times. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying the views down island and out to sea. We could hear the waves crahing on the rocks below us at all times. It was a wonderful outdoor environment. It also had a nice dining table for 6. A comfy sofa and chair, and two tall bar stool type chairs to see over the railing.
The road to Nautilus is very easy, first right past the Westin, and very, very, easy, flat, large driveway.
Nautilus is not upscale in it's decor and the kitchen and baths are not the "after" on HGC, but it's perfectly fine, clean, and homey, and has a very comfortable feel to it.
The hot tub is very large and nice, but we would have been happier with a pool.
If a pool isn't a deal breaker for you, I'd recommend Nautilus for the location, views, breezes, great veranda, and very nice property at a good price.
I'd give it 3.5 stars if that were an option. Well, I guess it is if you read this far.
