This was our third experience renting a villa on St. John. We've always had great luck in the past, so this experience was very disappointing.
Initially, we had booked another villa - Choco Cruz - but I was contacted during the summer and told that it was likely going to be in foreclosure. So I was given two other options in the same area - Hale Lani or Palm Hill. We selected Palm Hill based on the rental agent's input that it was newer and more up to date.
I will say that Palm Hill is a pretty villa, and the view is lovely. However, there is a massive new villa being constructed below it and extensive construction work being done to the villa next door. The noise of power saws, drills and hammers started at 7 am below us and it lasted next door until 5 pm. Fortunately, we like to spend as much time as we can at the beaches. I wouldn't have wanted to spend time by the pool while they were working, and breakfast on the deck was far from peaceful.
Unfortunately, the main portion of the house is not air conditioned (just the bedrooms), so if you try to shut out the noise, it's stifling.
I really wanted to like this villa but can't recommend it. If you're interested, you should make very sure that the construction below - and especially to the side - is completed well before you get there.
