Marriot Morning Star Beach 2/28/00
Reviewers Rating: Fair My family and I just returned from 5 days at Marriot's Morning Star Beach property. To commemorate our stay there my children composed the following song. We invite you to sing along to the tune of "The 12 Days of Christmas"...On the first day at Marriot this problem befell me... No picture on the TV.On the second day at Marriot this problem befell me... Hoards of hungry ants, And no picture on the TV.On the third day at Marriot this problem befell me... Potty that won't flush, Hoards of hungry ants, And no picture on the TV.On the fourth day at Marriot this problem befell me... Ice maker wakes us, Potty won't flush, Hoards of hungry ants, And no picture on the TV.On the fifth day at Marriot the manager said to me... Stuff happens. Ice maker wakes us, Potty won't flush, Hoards of hungry ants, And no picture on the TV.To be less flippant, the property has the potential to be wonderful. But... the management was inept in attempting to resolve the issues which came up. I am not so naive as to think that all vacations are perfect. We are seasoned travelers and know that difficulties can and do arise. However, the great hotels field them with grace and aplomb and address them with dispatch. This Marriot property charges Great Hotel prices, and therefore, their responsibility is to deliver Great Hotel service. A note to families traveling with children...there are no lifeguards at any of the hotels pools or at the beach. While there are attendants to dispense towels at the pools, and (when they can be found) rent equipment for water sports at the beach, but no lifeguards. Since the waters, even close to the shore, are more than six feet deep, please be extra attentive to children. On the bright side, one of the onsite restaurants, Tavern on the Beach, is very nice. And in town, both Herve and 1829 are marvelous.
