Renaissance Grand Beach Resort 11/21/02

WE JUST RETURNED ON NOVEMBER 16. YOU NEED TO CONSIDER THE OTHER PROPERTIES AND LOCATIONS ON THE ISLAND WHEN CHOOSING A PLACE TO STAY. THE EAST END WAS THE BEST. A JUDGE'S CONFERNECE WAS IN PLACE SO ON ARRIVAL THEY WERE OVER BOOKED. THE STAFF AT CHECK-IN WERE SO DEAR AND SWIFTLY GAVE US WHAT THEY CALLED THE BEST ROOM IN THE HOUSE FOR THE WEEK. WE STAYED IN A TWO STORY TOWNHOUSE WITH AN INCREDIBLE VIEW. OUR SUNDECK HELD TWO CHAIRS AND WAS SPACIOUS. OUR ROOM WOULD SLEEP 8 - AND IT WAS JUST MY HUSBAND AND I. OUR ROOM WAS SO VERY CLEAN - ALWAYS LOTS OF FRESH YUMMY TOWELS AND ALL THEIR LITTLE BOTTLES OF PERKS WERE BED FROM BED AND BATH. IT WAS A STEEP WALK - BUT ALL PLACES THAT ARE NICE THERE GO UP. I LOVE TO WALK SO I ENJOYED IT - THEY DO HAVE LITTLE CAARTS YOU CAN RIDE IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE EXCERCISE. THE POOLS WERE BRAND NEW AND SO BEAUTIFUL. THE BEACH WAS CLEAN AND VERY PRETTY - ALWAYS TONS OF BEACH CHAIRS AND VERY QUITE. MELISSA AT THE BEACH SPOT WAS THE GREATEST! SHE HELPED US WITH BOATING TRIPS AND OTHER WATER SPORTS. THERE ONLY RESTAURANT WITH SUPERB FOOD WAS SMUGGLERS. IF YOU LEFT THE HOTEL YOU HAD TO TAKE A VERY PRICY TAXI AND THAT WILL NEED TO CHANGE SOON OR THEY WILL HAVE NO MORE RETURN TOURISTS. IT IS UNSAFE AND INPOSSIBLE TO WALK ANYWHERE. ALL RESTAURANTS AND TAXIS WERE VERY VERY EXPENSIVE. THERE IS NOTHING TO DO THERE AT NIGHT. IN MEXICO YOU CAN ENJOY THE DOWNTOWN AREAS AND IN ST. THOMAS EVERYTHING IS CLOSED SO YOU TAKE A TAXI TO AND FROM A RESTAURANT AND THAT EVEN FEELS UNSAFE. ANYWHERE IN A TAXI IS PER PERSON - ONE WAY - AT LEAST $8.00 PER PERSON - SO IT ADDS UP FAST.
