The location is excellent, nestled between the Ritz Carlton and the Yacht Club. The site itself is beautiful with a great beach. Bonnie's by the Sea has EXCELLENT food and very reasonable.
However, there were problems with the rooms themselves unfortunately. Our first room had terrible TV reception so we had to switch. We ended up in a room on the fourth floor of Building y which was far from the amenities but the view was great. However, we never really had hot water.
Also, the ice machine was broken and the drinks machine was improperly filled so whatever you punched, you got the wrong drink. Minor compared to lack of hot water. The staff did try to amend the situation but it did not quite work out. Hence the reason for the 2 stars.
We opted for taking taxis everywhere which are expensive. They charge per person but it still worked out less than renting a car for the day. The resort had outings everyday. They are also part of the Bluebeard resorts so there were free shuttles to there as well.
They also provided a pass for fresh beach towels every day which was nice, however, one day, there were none so we were stuck.
It cost us about $100 per night including tax to stay there.
A little pricey for a room with no hot water but overall, it was a nice experience.
Red Hook's Molly Malones was a great Irish feed. Nice little shops also if you don't want to head over to Havensight Mall and Charlotte Amalie.
TIP: We bought all of our liquor form Kmart in Tutu Mall. Great choices and they box it up for you. We bought 12 bottles for less than $100.
Taxis from the resort to Red Hook were between $6-8 for two people one way.
You can use the Ritz Carlton'
s beach and towels since all beaches are considered public and they are trying to promote the hotel.
