USVI-On-Line: St. Thomas Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews:

Hotel 1829 05/15/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
We stayed here for one night at the end of our honeymoon, in a Deluxe Room. The hotel is beautiful, with a great location on Government Hill (the hill is quite a steep walk). We had the room right over the entrance (the iron balcony on our room had the initials of the sea captain who built the place, which just happen to be AL, also our initials), the view was great of Charlotte Amalie and the bay. The room had stone and brick walls, and a sweet canopied bed. The only thing at all wrong with the room was that it was quite dark, more or brighter lights would have been better. The little bar has fun backgammon tables and a great veiw a sunset. The hotel is a part of a collection of historic properties in the area with small musems, and neat historic photos, the giant chess pieces and the Tiffany stained glass were neat. Although we didn't use it, the hotel had a nice little pool. I peeked into some of the other rooms, and the suites looked larger, but similar to our room, while the standard rooms were tiny and had cheap looking furnishings. The Deluxe Room is definitely worth the extra money!
