USVI-On-Line: St. Thomas Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews:

Marriott's Morningstar Resort 05/28/2003
Reviewers Rating: Excellent
My new husband and I just returned from our wedding and honeymoon in St. Thomas. While there we stayed at the Morningstar Resort, which is the sister property to the Marriott Frenchmanís Reef hotel. We had a beachfront room and it was wonderful. The only qualm you may have while staying in these rooms is the walk to your room from the check-in desk Ė itís a little long, depending on which building you stay in, and there are no elevators if you are not staying in a first floor room. There is, however, a great shuttle that runs between the two properties so you can get between the two resorts very easily.

The beach at our hotel was very nice. It provided great views of the cruise ships as they left the port. At the beach they provide a towel and chair service to customers so you donít have to worry about paying extra for these while staying at the resort. There are two restaurants at the Morningstar, Coco Joeís and Tavern on the Beach (both overlook the beach). Both were adequate, although pricey for what you get. We enjoyed the restaurants at Frenchmanís Reef much better. The pool at Morningstar is pretty nice, too. Itís much less crowded than the pool at the Frenchmanís Reef part of the complex.

We do have to compliment the Weddings in Paradise staff located in the Frenchmanís Reef. Thanks Tiffany and Melissa!!! We were married there May 15 and they did an awesome job coordinating everything for us. All we had to do was pick up our marriage license at the courthouse in town and they took care of all the rest. I canít wait to see the pictures the photographer took for us.

Finally, I want to add some notes about other conveniences provided to customers at these two hotels. There is a ferry that runs between the hotel and Charlotte Amalie. It provides a much more scenic route into town and costs the same per person as taking a taxi. There is an Adventures Desk located in the Frenchmanís Reef that will help you plan excursions in and around St. Thomas. Be sure to check them out. Almost forgot, each room contains a refrigerator and ice machine so you can go to town and stock up on your own island beverage of choice. The ones at the hotel are a bit pricey Ė go to Kmart instead. Best deals on the island.
