USVI-On-Line: St. Thomas Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews:

Marriott Frenchman's Reef 08/13/2003
Reviewers Rating: Great
We stayed there for only 4 nights with a group of 14. We had a HarborView Suite and it was spectacular. Great view, nice llving room, cpiral staircae to a king size bed in a loft, very large bathrrom with jacuzzi and stall shower. Very strong air conditioning (important to me!).

Others in our party had regular rooms and they were more than adequate.

The facilites were clean and in good repair. Wonderful pool, lots of chairs (we were off season), great swim up bar.

Food on site was expensive, but typical for the islands. WIndows on the Harbor had good views of the sunset and the ships atin port, above average food and very good service. Dinner for 3 with wine was $180. Great morning buffet. There was a sandwich/snack shop with relatively reasonable prices for good sandwiches and coffee, drinks, beer, wine, munchies 24 hours a day.

I can not say enough about the staff at the Adventure Center. Lisa and others made great recommendations for dinners and sailing and made all arrangements for us, including vans for our traveling party. She was as good as any concierge at any five star hotel.

Access to Morningstar was a five minute walk or a shuttle from the front desk. The beach was very nice for a quick dip, but if you are a serious beach person, go to another one off property. Coco Joe's was good for a burger.

Very nice excercise room, with machines and free weights

Two negative comments:

1) The front desk staff was not very good....roooms were confused -with wrong names on the rooms, confused bill, etc. which kept my inlaws from meeting up with guests who could not find him. Rooms were not ready at check in and my some in our party waited until 4:30 until their room was ready. I called to have three shirts picked up for cleaning and was told I had to deliver them to the front desk.

2) If you are getting married, double and triple check the arrangements made by the Wedding in Paradise staff. Everything came off fine, but they really did not seem to have their act together and I had to constantly review and correct their arrangements in the days and weeks leading up to the wedding. Lisa from the Adventure Center was more helpful in setting up the after wedding dinner at the Hotel restuarant than the wedding planners.

We would definately stay there again

Joe
