USVI-On-Line: St. Thomas Hotel, Resort & Villa Reviews:

Wyndham Sugar Bay 07/15/2004
Reviewers Rating: Great
We stayed here five nights after staying at Point Pleasant for three nights. After PP, anything looks good! Actually, the Wyndham is a nice resort. It's very nice on the inside but next time we'll stay somewhere else.
They just don't have the good restaurants like other places on the island, probably because of the all-inclusive thing, which we didn't do. We did eat the breakfast buffet three times. For $20.00, I'd rather go to Molly Malones, or Burrito Bay Deli. And every morning the Wyndham had almost the same exact food. It wasn't that it was bad, it just wasn't anything to brag about.
It is kind of a pain that you have to park in the lot at the bottom of the hill and either walk or take the shuttle to get there. It's a pretty good jaunt, which for us would be easy in the morning, but not much fun after a day at the beach drinking beer! If it hadn't been for the shuttles, we might have been sleeping in the car:) The staff at the Wyndham is pretty much like everywhere else, on "island time". If we hadn't been forewarned by everyone on the forum that "island time" means slow at a snail's pace, it would have been very annoying. Fifteen minutes to cash a travelers check, when you're on the way to the beach, can seem like an eternity. Patience is the most important thing to bring with you!! DH did get a little po'd at the bell captain who yelled at him and grabbed him by the arm because when we first checked in, we didn't know that you couldn't park your car and get out of it at the front to check in and get your luggage. DH parked and got out to come in while I checked us in, and this guy came running after him yelling "You can't just leave your car there!! and he grabbed DH by the arm. Needless to say, DH was a little ticked off. The Wyndham really needs to give their patrons a little more instruction when it comes to checking in. This is the first hotel/resort I've ever been to where you weren't allowed to park and leave your car in front and check in. And the Bell captain needs to realize that not everyone knows the rules beforehand and a little polite instruction goes a long way, instead of yelling and grabbing people.

As far as the rooms, ours was just a normal hotel room nothing fancy. It did have a great ocean view. The pool area is pretty nice and big, but the jacuzzi didn't work and was really dirty.

We did get a wonderful couples massage at Journeys Spa. It was worth every bit of the $180.

All in all, we probably wouldn't stay here again.
