St. John :: Palm Ridge - Breathtaking

user-pic
Rating: (Excellent)

Palm Ridge villa is a spectacular home high above Coral Bay on Majestic Mile. The home is very new and still maintains the newness feeling and look to it. Access to the house is on completely paved, switchback roads off of Centerline. While there were some steep sections, it was easy to traverse. Upon clearing the driveway keypad gate, you are struck by the lush and colorful mature plantings that surround this house. The owners have done a beautiful job with landscaping. There is ample parking for at least 4 vehicles in the driveway area. The main entrance is to the back of the house and it opens into the very spacious living room and gourmet kitchen. The two sofas in the living area are very comfortable and relaxing. The kitchen has everything anyone would need for making the simplest of snacks or gourmet dinner. There was every size and shape pan needed in addition to a well stocked plasticware drawer good for storing leftovers. Plenty of quality eating and cooking utensils. The wifi worked well throughout the house inside and out. This part of the house is not air conditioned. There were very few breezes when we were there in August so it did get hot in the living area; more so when the oven was on. I'm sure tho that once the breezes start up that works well in somewhat cooling the main area of the house. Because of few breezes there were mosquitoes and bug repellent was needed if outside. The master bedroom on the main floor is air conditioned and was a cool respite in the heat of the day. There are an additional 3 bedrooms downstairs. All AC worked extremely well and we appreciated the whisper quietness of each unit. The beds were very comfortable. Each spotless bathroom and shower was stocked with plenty of towels, tp, shampoo and soap. Water pressure was always adequate. The outdoor deck area on the main floor is well appointed and comfortable to laze the day away. The view into Coral Bay and beyond is awe inspiring. The main outdoor seating area was always in the shade yet there were plenty of other direct sun areas with lounge chairs. The upper deck with its chairs was a quiet out of the way place to watch the sun rise or listen to the doves. The pool gets direct sun throughout the day so it was never cold, but not as warm as you would expect. There were a few pool noodles and a float to use. Note there is no child safety features to keep children away from the pool. The outside grill was large, clean and full of propane. There was also a nice hammock. The beach towels were large and substantial and the beach chairs were the best ones we have had yet, comfortable, easily carried and well made. From the house it is a quick easy few minutes' drive to the north shore beaches or down into Coral Bay where there are plenty of food options. There is only one house within sight but we never heard or saw anyone. Occasionally, we would hear voices float up from below, but this house really is isolated from view of anyone else. While the pictures online of this house are wonderful this house can't be truly appreciated until you get there. Anyone who rents this lovely house will not be disappointed. The management company was a pleasure to work with, always responsive and helpful. This is a fabulous house and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
