Cocolobo: A perfect villa

Cocolobo is a spectacular villa with endless ocean views and abundant privacy. My family spent a week in Cocolobo relaxing and soaking up the sun and I wish we had booked in for longer.

The villa sits on top of a hill overlooking Reef Bay. You can really only see two other villas from where it sits and those are below you. There is one villa right beside it but it is hidden by the vegetation. The drive out from town is about 20 minutes and is fairly easy. The last part is one lane but it is all paved except for one small portion. Parking in the driveway is very easy and at least two jeeps could easily fit. The landscaping is beautiful with lots of mature landscaping and flowering trees and bushes.

The house is on 3 levels. The main level is the kitchen, dining, living, full bath, deck and pool. One level down is the master suite with full bath and one level below that were two more bedrooms with a shared full bath. The bedroom are exterior access.

The kitchen had every amenity we could need, many different cooking utensils, lots of plates and cups and glassware, coffee pot, blender toaster, microwave. There wasn't anything that we needed that we couldn't find. If you are eat in people there are 4 places to eat: outside on the patio by the grill, the two dining tables or at the counter with the stools. As a side note there was nothing left over from previous renters except for a few condiments: salt, pepper, olive oil.

The living area was plush and super comfy. We had no problem finding a comfortable place to sit and watch tv or read or watch the day go by. The furniture is large and heavy and had numerous options where to sit. There is a large flat screen tv with DVD player and VCR and satellite reception. When we were there, the first few days were very windy so the satellite reception was not great, but as the wind died down, the reception improved. There is a wi-fi connection and we had no problem connecting 2 laptops to it. There are 3 large sliders that face Reef Bay that give a stunning view day or night. There is a narrow deck off these sliders good for standing but not really wide enough for sitting. Two more sliders open out onto the pool deck. The living area is nicely decorated with lots of accessories to give the home a warm feeling. While there are beautiful lighting fixtures throughout the house, as night fell, we found it hard to read as the fixtures did not give off enough light, but the ambiance was still wonderful.

There is a full bath with a shower on the main living floor. There are also a few board games and a shelf with books.

The pool deck is generously stocked with 6 padded loungers and 2 additions seats and a couple of small tables. The deck received direct sun for most of the day and there were no shaded spots to find cover. The pool is a good size and depth. There is a nice ledge on one side where you can sit submerged in the water. There are also 2 foam floats. The water was never too cold, tho at times it was cool; surprising after receiving so much direct sun.

The master bedroom was one floor below the main living area and was accessed by an outside stairway. There is a sitting area just outside the master suite with same rattan furniture. The suite had a king-size bed with a comfy mattress, tho my husband said it was a bit too soft for his liking. I found it perfect. There were two lights on the bed head board for reading. The sheets were comfortable and not worn out. There was a small rattan couch on one end and a desk on the other. The bed faces the view of Reef Bay thru three large sliders. There is a narrow deck off these sliders good for standing but not really wide enough for sitting. This is the easterly view so you will get the sun rising directly in your face. There are no curtains in this room. As we are early risers, this was not a problem for us and we loved it. The bathroom is quite large with a double sink, toilet, bidet, and open shower with windows that look out onto Reef Bay. Towels were plentiful and fluffy and absorbent. We did not use the two bedrooms on the 2nd level so I can not comment on those.

The first few days we were in Cocolobo it was really really windy. Sometimes all we could hear was the wind day and night and it was like a freight train. Fortunately, the wind died down and turned just breezy. With that said Cocolobo is definitely a perfect villa. It is comfortable, it has everything one could need for a relaxing vacation, it has breathtaking views, it is private, it is spectacular.
