180 Degree Southern Views

We stayed at Daffodil November 2011. It had been on my short list for several years and I was not disappointed at all. The views from the deck are outstanding-you can see St. Croix if it's clear out, and you have sunrises and sunsets-truly a 180 degree view. \r\n\r\nAfter we had made the initial booking the house was sold. The new owner has laid down fresh paint, changed the furniture-new beds etc, and installed a pool heater. The pool was a bit chilly, but I've been informed since that there's ways to adjust it that we weren't aware of. Daffodil is over on Fish Bay so maybe 10-12 minutes to Cruz? Bit of a narrow road to get there on the final leg-if there's another car coming you have to pull off to let them pass. The driveway is a switchback style too, but than so many on STJ are that's not uncommon. \r\n\r\nThe pool is almost infinity style-great for lazing around on the floating mats while the sun beats down. The deck area is quite expansive, a gazebo area with table/chairs, a lounge area with chaises, another table/chairs area under the overhang and a grill (which we didn't use so can't comment). \r\n\r\nInside the kitchen opens to the living room and there are 2 equal bedrooms/bathrooms, one off the kitchen and one off the living room. There's also a 1/2 bath off the living room and a laundry room with washer/dryer. \r\n\r\nThe landscaping around the house is really beautiful-lots of flowering plants and big sized palms. They've added more plants on the deck area too which is a nice touch.\r\n\r\nPool privacy-we thought the pool seems very private-there's some houses above but you'd really have to stretch to see them, so I'm assuming they can't look down on the pool. We spent a lot of time here just lazing around, very relaxing. The whole area is extremely quiet, heard a little noise from down below, but that was rare and very muffled. \r\n\r\nWe rented through Island Getaways and Kathy Mclaughlin was fine to deal with. She left a nice welcome plate of food and beverage which was much appreciated. The pictures on her website are very representative of the place. \r\n\r\nWe understand the new owner might be making some more changes-perhaps a 3rd bedroom or a redo of the kitchen. The kitchen was fine for us; I will say that we didn't eat in other than breakfasts, but it seemed to have most everything necessary.\r\n\r\nBottom line-would we recommend to friends? Most definitely!
