Re: Life On A Rock
I know I'm replying to an old post, but it's relevant. I searched for the original video of Happy on the Hey Now, but it appears that it is no longer available. Does anyone know why? The only one I could find is one with pictures of Kwnny Chesney, and another live video. I was really touched by the ...

Re: Jost recommendations
I agree that it can be a lot of money, but there is something about White Bay. We took a day sail over on Calypso on our recent trip, and it was the high point of our trip. Of course there was the snorkeling and sailing, which was so relaxing, but sitting in the beach chairs, the people, the boats c...

Re: Recommendations
I think the mosquito situation probably depends on what you are used to back at home. We have been on the island since Monday, and have seen a few, but nothing like even an average night in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Went on the Reef Bay hike yesterday, and my wife and I were commenting on how ...

Re: Recommendations
^^Kevin, we have been here since Monday night, and I have yet to see a mosquito. So far we have spent all of our time in or around Cruz Bay, but much of it has been outdoors. So far I am very pleasantly surprised at the lack of mosquitoes.

Taxi Overcharge - How Do You Handle It?
My wife and I arrived late Monday night. Due to mechanical delays on American, we did not get to the airport and collect our luggage until about 10:45 pm. I knew we would not make the 11:00 ferry, but I knew we would make the last ferry at midnight. Anyway, while at the airport, I read the taxi rate...

Re: Three Day Parking in Cruz Bay?
I didn't think Budget would let you have the top down either. Aren't they hard tops? If you are just going to park it for 3 days, I would probably just rent on St. John for the days that you need it.

Re: Another beautiful day
Glad to hear your nice report on the Reef Bay hike. We have never done it but we have reservations at the end of May and are really looking forward to it.
Keep the great reports coming.

Trunk Bay also has the underwater snorkel trail, which is really pretty nice for beginning snorkelers.

Re: Boat in Maho
It really surprises me that this turns out to be a charter. I guess I could expect it from a private owner, but it sure seems like a charter could lose a ton of business acting this way.

Re: Island Healthcare?
The residents on this forum can certainly add more value than I can in response to the question, but here is my take from a tourist perspective. When we were there in 2007, my wife got a UTI on our first day there and had to get medical attention. Obviously, we were worried about how this might go. ...

Re: My Tentative Itinerary
Thanks Everyone, Based on your input, I have indeed canceled the dinghy day, and I moved the Calypso day trip up one day. That leaves only two planned days out of the seven full days we have on St. John, one for the Reef Bay hike and one for the Calypso trip to Jost Van Dyke. RickG, what is the best...

My Tentative Itinerary
Here is our itinerary for our upcoming trip to St. John May 26th - June 4th. It may seem too planned for some of you, but it really is mostly down time. Our only other trip to St. John was 7 years ago. We are staying at Grande Bay If any of you have any suggestions or ideas based on these plans, I'd...

Re: should i rent a jeep for everyday in st. john
Thanks jbpadgett09. I was not aware that I could rent a Jeep directly from Grande Bay. I was able to call them and reserve one for 2-days of my upcoming 8-day trip. The rest of the days will be spent in Cruz Bay or on day trips. Those two days with a Jeep will allow me to spend some time visiting Co...

Re: should i rent a jeep for everyday in st. john
I have this same debate and I go back and forth. The only other time we went to St. John we stayed in a villa in the hills just past the Westin, so a Jeep was an absolute requirement just for getting around. This May, however, we are staying at Grande Bay, and I have been thinking about our itinerar...
