Re: Stinging Plankton???
I was there a couple of weeks ago and felt them while snorkeling at Maho, but not in Hansen Bay…
I suspect everyone's reaction to them depends on your own personal chemistry, but for me it was no big deal…
The stings were minor and were gone by the time I got out of the water...

Re: Chateau Bordeaux
I passed it by several times last week… It's actually farther away from the restaurant than I pictured it to be; past the bamboo that was planted to block the view previously. Once when I was heading east, there was a west-bound safari taxi parked in the road so that the passengers could get out, cr...

Re: Jimmys on STJ
I drove a Jimny around St. John last month and really enjoyed it. Yes, it doesn't have a lot of power, but the only area where it had trouble on the hills was out on the East End.

Re: Coral Bay Marina
Like Seagrape, I'm sitting on my porch on Seagrape Hill looking out over Coral Bay and the site of the marina with mixed feelings... I've been digesting the news all day... I've loved Coral Bay for what it is since I started coming here 20 years ago... But it's a little sad now with so many closed b...

Re: 5 couples next year...villa help please
A few years ago my wife and I stayed at Eden's Whim with 4 other couples. The 5 bedrooms are all nice and there's a very large pool. There are a number of gathering places in and around the house, and plenty of room to spread out as well... The villa itself is gorgeous and located in Chocolate Hole....

Re: Sunshine's Jeep Rental
They are a fairly new rental company, so that's probably why you haven't seen any reviews. I've used them twice and they have brand new Jeeps along with a small parking area across from Dolphin Market.
I have booked them again for my next trip...

Re: Sago palms replacement house in architectural digest
And it wasn't just Sago Palms that was lost... The villa that was on the footprint that the monster replaced was called Villa Marisla. It was an old island-style home built with teak and native stone. There was an enormous stained glass window featuring a whale breaching the surface that was just ab...

Re: a new blog?
Congratulations, Loria... As an ex-building blogger I urge you to just let it all hang out and have fun with it. The blog can be a great release for you during the building/renovating process, and a way of documenting everything that will be a hoot to look back on a few years from now... And as for ...

Re: STT Airport Check-in and Carry-on question
You may indeed, skip the airline counter and go directly to customs & security. One note of caution: You'll need a customs form, and there have been several times when those forms weren't available at the customs entrance, and I had to ask someone from the airline ticket counter for a form...
