Re: St. Croix Vs St. John?

My husband and I have been to STJ 9 times and STX twice. STX is definitely different but we thoroughly enjoyed both stays. STX is bigger, has more amenities (shopping, groceries, casino), and attractions (Rum Factory, Historical sites, golf course, Botanical Gardens, Wildlife Preserves, especially S...

Re: Low Cost Villas

Rosebay, Hawksbill, Jasmine, and Periwinkle are all available and reasonably priced. We stayed at Rosebay 2 years ago and it was perfectly adequate. It's a little worn, like most older villas but not so much as to prove problematic. It is one level and has A/C throughout. The only problem we had was...

Re: 7 Passenger Rental Cars

Thanks for the good info and suggestions. In the past, we've pretty much stuck together but I suppose this trip, some of the older kids might want to go off by their own. Food for thought.

Re: 7 Passenger Rental Cars

They all seem to have switched to the large SUV's. I'd get a minivan in a microsecond.

7 Passenger Rental Cars

My family and I (2 adults, 5 young adults) are coming to STJ in April. The last time we came we rented a Jeep Commander figuring that a 7 passenger vehicle would fit 7 people. Not so. The rear seats had NO leg room and must've been made for midgets. We were going to rent 2 vehicles this time but if ...

We have snorkeled both STJ and STX and found both to be great. If you're looking for some variety and different underwater seascapes, then you'll find them on STX. Out at Buck Island, it was deeper water with tunnels and cubby holes and bigger fish. The deserted beach on the other end was magical. (...

The local dive shops don't have prescription specific masks like your eyeglass prescription with the sphere, cylinder and axis but rather they have magnification lenses in the masks. They are plus or minus 1,2,3,4 etc. Hubby and I weren't too sure about this since we both where progressive glasses b...

We feel your pain. All 7 of us are gathered around the TV watching old shows, trying to figure out what to do in the rain today. We've already shopped in Cruz Bay,twice, went out to eat a few times, and played poker during the rainy spells of the last few days. We're running out of ideas. We did get...

We just noticed Tomas this morning. While it does seem to be taking a southerly route I worry about it's size and the bands of rain that it will be throwing off to the north of it's center. The weather forcasters are usually pretty good at plotting the track of hurricanes by looking at the fronts, r...

We experienced the cruise ship folks at Honeymoon a few years ago and it didn't seem fair after that hike down there. At least they didn't show up until after I had taken some great pictures. They were snorkelers and it was kinda funny to watch them all swim around in the same area. Not so funny to ...

Cruise ship visits

My family and I (7 in all) will be venturing to STJ in less than 2 weeks. During my research for our trip I discovered that for 2 of the 4 full days that we will be on island, there will be 9 cruise ships in STT. I didn't think that many cruise ships would fit in STT harbor. Where in the world do th...
