Trip Report - 10/9 – we have arrived!

The red-eye from Los Angeles to JFK was brutal. They did not serve us anything on the plane. No coffee, no water, nada. We arrived in St. Thomas at 2:00 pm with no further issues. Picked up a Jeep Unlimited from Dependable and it was off to Cost-U-Less. Jet lagged and craving coffee, my brain was se...

Trip Report - 10/8 - the journey there

10/8 - We arrived at the airport 1-1/2 hours before our flight and went to the American terminal for coach and saw a ton of people and no kiosks. Huh? We waited and waited but the line barely budged. There were no agents to ask. After 15 minutes, someone told us the kiosks were in the next room...th...

Wow. The water at Haulover isn't very deep, either! The only times I have seen them is in water 20' deep in the Pacific. I had to repeatedly dive to get a decent shot. I am not thrilled about them being in the lovely water of St. John!

flying from Los Angeles

We are headed there on Saturday (Yippee!!!!!) We are using a 6"x8"x6" soft sided cooler as a "personal item" on the plane. The airline states 6"x6"x6" as the acceptable size but ours fits under the seat so it should be fine. I have had mixed results from check...

We experienced something similar about 12 years back - just swap pelicans for seagulls and tarpons for the barjacks! Once I figured out that the tarpons weren't going to eat ME, it was amazing!

Hi Howie's Sunshine. Funny how I was just thinking about Howie as I entered the forum today. We will be there in 9 days and we will definitely ring his bell at Skinny Legs!
Warm regards,

current weather?

Hey there all you lucky people who are currently on the island - what is the current weather? Weather.com is showing 60% chance of rain everyday for the forseeable future :( and we are wondering if it is an occasional shower or a drizzle day. We are headed out on Friday.
Thanks a lot.

St Thomas airport

Hi. How chaotic is the St. Thomas airport these days? Are there major delays getting through security? How much time should we give ourselves for the flight home?
Thanks.

Does any one know the current schedule of the car barge between St. Thomas and St. John? How many companies are currently operating? What is the current price? Thanks!

It's usually cloudy from the large amounts of fresh ginger, making it quite spicy. Yum! Cheers, RickG Ric...

underwater mode

Thanks Bob & Anita! In a weird way I am glad that my S40 camera does NOT have that mode - I'd hate to think that I bought the camera with underwater photography in mind, have owned it for several years and never saw that button!

underwater setting....?

I feel like quite the fool for asking this next question but here goes......I have a Powershot S40 with the underwater case. I have been experimenting with different settings over the years. I have never noticed an underwater setting and am now wondering if my camera has one! Can you describe it?

Bob & Anita - camera question

Hi guys! We are headed out to STJ at the end of the month. I was checking out your pictures in a previous post. They are awesome! What kind of camera are you using?
PS - I LOVE the spotted eagle ray! I've been to STJ 5 times and have never seen one there.
