Re: Live trip report-photos added
Gibney and Honeymoon are 2 of my all-time favorites...but of course I also love Trunk bay in the late afternoon/early evening right up to darkest dusk, and Hawksnest early morning, and Cinnamon on a calm day (nothing's better) and Maho, again in the late afternoon when it's quiet, and Francis, early...

Re: I have a size problem
One of my sons honeymooned in St. John when he was only 21 or 22. He rented from a company that I rented from several times before. So I called them and explained the situation and they had no problem renting to my son. If you've rented from a company in STT or STJ before, call them personally and a...

Re: St John with a 5 and 7 year old, HELP!!!
Have you considered renting a unit at Cruz Views? It's close to everything with great views and has a nice, relatively large (compared to those at other STJ condo complexes) pool. Out of the 10 units, 5 are 2-bedroom units. Four of the 2-BR units have a closed door MBR with a captain's ladder up to ...

Re: Travel tips for bringing a 15-month old to STJ
Having traveled with MANY of my grandkids at that age, I have some great tips for you. One of my daughter-in-laws bought a great little net tent on Amazon that she would use. All 4 sides were netting which allowed all the breezes to go through keeping the babies comfortable if they were happing on t...

I totally agree re: Etta's at the MarketPlace. Generous portions, great West Indian food, and you can't find anyplace that cooks and serves it with more love than Etta! If you want a bit fancier experience (sit-down meal at tables inside) and during evening and weekend hours, try Da Coal Pot. New re...

Re: Coral Bay vs Cruz Bay
Another vote for Cinnamon Tarn. Stayed there a few years ago and still remember it fondly today. Views can't be beat; spacious. Though I generally prefer central a/c, we were there in March and the breezes and shade from the trees kept it cool. Plus I'm adventurous and loved taking that crazy dirt/r...

Re: Pictures...please
not quite sure how to post pictures; I'm trying below by selecting "img" then inserting a picture from my hardrive in between the 2 "[img] captions that pop us.
If this doesn't work, would someone please tell me how I can post pictures?

Re: Hotel in Town
I stayed at Cruz Views 1 a few weeks ago (owners call it Bliss and book it directly via vrbo and flipkey) and absolutely loved it. Close to town but not in the midst of the 'hub-bub' so you don't get the noise, traffic, congestion etc. Close to everything but up high enough to get great views and so...

Re: Anyone on island 1/22-1/29/13
I've been down by myself a few times. First time, I was REALLY nervous! Now, I almost prefer it (I hate to say that 'out loud' as it sounds so selfish somehow, but it's really really relaxing to be able to go where I want to go and do what I want to do whenever and wherever I want to! I don't ever g...

Re: Ocean Pearl or Hawksbill?
You could also try one of the 2 bedroom units at Cruz Views. Close to Cruz Bay--easy walk down to town, tougher to go back up the hill :-). Reasonable. Some units very, very nice; some not so much--each priced accordingly. Pool and deck/gazebo area/gardens very nice. Views are great. I know that #1 ...

Definitely on my "try" list for January. Does anyone know if it's only closed on Sundays or other nights as well?

Re: TGIF
So the long island on the horizon is Tortola? Beautiful pic. I haven't driven out to the east end for awhile--each year it seems to get longer and longer to get back into Cruz Bay--so I was thrown for a loop with all the extra homes I see out on that peninsula! Lots of building going on out there. T...
