Re: Kauai, St. John, Moorea/Bora Bora in French Polynesia
This is an old thread I started years ago, but thought I'd let everyone know that we did go to French Polynesia and have continued to return there. We use points to travel and have found ways to fly and stay free in French Polynesia. In fact, we love it so much there we've been back 4 times, stayed ...

Question about area of Memory Daze, Dos Palmas, Casa Yaya...
Does anyone have recent experience or heard about this area that these villas are in? Do you know of any current construction occurring in this area? I don't know how old the Google Maps satellite photo is, but it looks like there was construction clearing near Casa Yaya (behind and to it's south si...

Re: Tropical Storm Chantal
Here on St. John we experienced no Chantal, no rain, no problem. Another great day in paradise. Ignore the weather forecasts which say 70% chance of rain. What a joke. Not even thick cloud cover, sun is peeking out.

Re: Tropical Storm Chantal
I'm on St. John now. We had an awesome flight and the ferry ride was beautiful and a nice partly sunny sky. It never rained today. In fact we enjoyed the pool until sunset. We are expecting possible rain overnight, but they say it should be all clear by 1PM or so. The storm has broken up and not wel...

Re: Tropical Storm Chantal
We are in Miami right now and have a flight to St. Thomas getting in around 12:30PM then taxi to Red Hook to catch the 2 PM ferry to St. John. Do you think the ferry will be running then? Anyone know? I'm hoping to beat the worst and get to the Westin.

Re: Considering travel insurance for Aug trip -- advice?
Yes, I knew you weren't a teacher from Ohio where many enjoy much better health coverage. Here where I am the public teacher unions have crippled many homeowners and many in the private sector are leaving Ohio for places like Texas where taxes are much better and where there are more jobs. It can be...

Re: Considering travel insurance for Aug trip -- advice?
No flack from me cocosmom, I feel your pain. First of all, I also have not had a raise in many years. In fact, due to this bad economy many have taken cuts just so companies would survive. We never take a vacation if it isn't completely free, that's how we can go. We have kept perfect credit so we c...

Re: Considering travel insurance for Aug trip -- advice?
We travel free using points for airfare and hotel, yet I always get trip insurance anyhow due to the health coverage, trip delays and so forth. I add up any resort fees, airline fees (minimal) and other transport so it ends up not much, but I also factor in how much a resort charges if you don't sho...

I'm here now and saw those huge white cabana like shelters directly on the beach and it completely ruins the natural look of trunk that many have enjoyed for decades. And, only one was being used where all the kids are. They obviously haven't had problems have they with drownings before they were bo...

Average USPS Priority shipping time Midwest U.S. to St. John
Anyone have current average shipping time from Midwest U.S. to St. John. I have a box I want to send using USPS Priority (it's about 7 pounds). I know what the USPS states as far as shipping time is not always accurate, so I wanted to know from those with recent experience (within the last year). I'...
