Re: Ireland trip--suggestions please

We spent 2 weeks in Ireland this past August. It was never on the top of my "must go" list but it turned out to be one of our best trips ever. Amazing scenery, amazing history, amazing food, and especially amazing people. As you are only there for a week, you shouldn't push yourselves to c...

We are a couple hundred yards from the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic and, even though we are in the NE, we enjoy it in various stages of dress and undress April through November. Summer months are reserved for "staycations" and Spring and Fall for non-tropical travel. December through ...

Hey Marcia. Even though I never post, I follow this thread closely and know we have similar taste in books. You will love I Know This Much is True. Not as great as She's Come Undone, but pretty awesome. (I read it many years ago on the beaches of St. John. Maybe that's why I remember it so fondly? I...

I suppose I could avoid paying my fair share of public education costs if I lived in a cardboard box in the park. That's just not the most appealing "choice." The point of my post was not to complain about school taxes. I am a product of the public schools and have never voted down a schoo...

This is not redistribution of wealth? Lets put it in perspective. If I pay for my neighbor's childrens education it's OK but if I pay for their flu shots it's "socialism"?

Question for Republicans

I'm really enjoying the political bantor - keep it up! Quick question - I am a municipal attorney and earn a fraction of what I could earn in the private sector (totally my choice to work in public service). I'm fortunate enough to live in a great neighborhood where my property taxes (ie. school tax...

NYBB = New York Beach Bum
We're lucky enough to live at the beach and enjoy it everyday from April through October. Today was UNREAL - 80 degrees with bright sun, brilliant blue sky and clear water with big waves. Love love love September at the beach!

We were at Shipwreck in December and 4 of us went through a half bottle of that stuff. We picked up 2 bottles to bring home and they were gone in a couple of weeks. It's called VALLEY DOLL. Yum.

Full Moon

I believe we'll be in SJ during full moon in Dec. I think I've seen references to full moon events on this forum. We've done the Bomba Shack party on Tortolla and we're wondering: Are there any special celebrations on SJ for full moon?

We've spent many election day in SJ as the first 2 weeks of November is our traditional time to be there. No, there are no restrictions on selling alcohol. (We switched it up this year for the first 2 weeks of December. It will be the first time I didn't have to vote by absentee ballot in many years.)

Hey Ron. Read carefully and you will see the key word in my post was "connecting" - as in if you are "connecting" through San Juan - We have traveled every year from the VI for 14 years, CONNECTING through San Juan, as many flights do. The duty free prices are excellent and as I...

Duty free allowance for liquor

FYI - If you're connecting through San Juan, there is NO LIMIT, at least not going on to JFK. We always grab all we can carry, usually 10-12 bottles each.
