Re: Miss Lucy's Jazz Brunch

We enjoyed it very much. The location is great, and we thought the food was good. And I basically love most jazz, anywhere, so that was a big hit with us.

Re: Miss Lucy's Jazz Brunch

Thanks! We ended up getting there around 9:45 and shared a table with a lovely group. We really did find things crowded this year, though. Couldn't even park at Salt Pond one day. I remember when we would be among four or five other vehicles. But the weather was good, we loved staying at Fun and Con...

Miss Lucy's Jazz Brunch

What is the recommended time of arrival for Miss Lucy's Jazz Brunch during high season? We've only been once, in October, and it was pretty crazy busy then.

Re: Best day to travel home?

In over a dozen trips, we've only checked bags once or maybe twice. There's just the two of us, and if we have a washer and dryer available, carry on works okay. I must admit, I got a little spoiled by having extra clothes and shoes last time. But it's just so nice to get off the plane and just leav...

Re: Best day to travel home?

This past February STT was the most crowded we've ever seen. The line for customs was so long it was almost back out into the street. This was also the first time we checked bags. We always go Saturday to Saturday. Back to carry on in October.

Re: Villa for two ....any suggestions?

We love Monkey No Climb - our favorite of the four villas we've rented in Coral Bay. No pool, but a very nice hot tub. Also very much like One Particular Harbour and Orchid Knoll. I think each is close to or within your budget.

Re: Looking for condo in Cruz Bay

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. The trip dates changed, the cast of characters changed, and we're going to Caneel. We stayed at Caneel in 2004 on the tail end of Hurricane Jeanne, so I'm looking forward to a return. Hopefully without any storms. These other suggestions maybe put to use on a fu...

Re: Looking for condo in Cruz Bay

Wow, thanks for all of the suggestions. I appreciate you taking the time. I am going to look at all of these. Been having a little trouble finding availability on a few places for the week we want. Hope to have this figured out tomorrow night with some post turkey Cruzan.

Looking for condo in Cruz Bay

Hi all - we're taking what I'm calling a "bonus" trip next year so that a friend can see the island for the first time. Does anyone have a recommendation for a two bedroom condo within walking distance to town? Budget in range of about 2-3,000 for a week in March, but am flexible on that. ...

Re: Say it Ain't So!

The only beach we visited in July was Honeymoon, but it was crowded. Not Long Island or Jersey shore crowded, but the most people we've seen on a beach on St. John in over ten trips. No idea obviously what the other beaches were like. This was late July. What really surprised me though were the crow...

Re: Restaurant recommendation for birthday dinner

I thought I replied, so apologies if this post shows up twice. Thanks for the recommendations. I think we'll go to ZoZo's for the birthday dinner, as we've never been, and I like Caneel Bay's property so much. P&P By The Sea is also added as a must stop - sounds like just our kind of place.

Restaurant recommendation for birthday dinner

My husband and I are going to be staying in Cruz Bay after many trips to Coral Bay. Can anyone recommend a nice place for a birthday dinner? Going to be fun staying in the big city for a change, lol.

Re: bathrooms in a rental villa

Not necessarily something relegated to the bathroom - but a drying rack of some sort is really nice to have in a rental. Having to strew wet swim wear in one or more bathrooms is kind of a pain.

Re: Last minute 10 year anniversary trip

We love Monkey No Climb, available through VRBO. Lovely villa, very private but convenient location, the owner is great to deal with. We've rented in Coral Bay for a number of years, and this is our favorite. The views are fabulous, and the house has a nice hot tub on the deck.
