Barge trip, anyone?

Has anyone here ever taken a barge trip anywhere? We are looking at the idea of such a trip, possibly through wine country in France. We are not interested in the big river cruise ships, preferring something smaller and less formal. Any suggestions?

Rather than going back over 48 pages, I am just going to add a new post to ask if anyone has any recommendations for Terry Pratchett books. I picked up an audio book version of "Going Postal" and am finding it laugh-out-loud funny. He has several other books in his Discworld series and I a...

Thanks for the pictures and helpful information. Yesterday I booked a 5-day trip to IM beginning a week from Sunday. Really looking forward to it....especially after the rain, sleet, and snow of the last two days.

Great report. We are seriously considering a quick trip to IM next month. One question....is cell phone usage available? We have Verizon and never have any trouble in St. John, but not sure about IM.

You got me, lprof. It was really the Lone Ranger's horse, Silver. The Lone Ranger was playing at our local county fair when Silver got sick. They didn't want a sick horse on the fairgrounds, so they took him to my parents' farm. He died right after he arrived, probably of colic. 1. When I was three,...

OK, I'll jump in. 1. I attended a one-room country school, grades 1-6, for nine years. 2. Gene Autry's horse, Champion, died on our farm. 3. As a little girl, I used to go with my mother to watch for enemy aircraft. 4. The closest we ever came to a celebrity-sighting on St. John was when we "ju...

I know exactly how you feel. Whenever we plan a spring trip to St. John I spend all winter counting the days, lurking on the forum and really getting excited about the trip. But when it gets close to our departure date, I start to have second thoughts. "Do we really need this?" "Is it...

At the end of the episode, the new buyers were shown running to catch a ferry. Where was that? At Caneel? The dock looked like it was paved.

Just finished "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. I would like to thank whoever recommended this book. I loved it and could not put it down. It is a novel set in post-WWII Guernsey and refers to the German occupation of the Channel Isl...
