I've done 2-5 night trips to New York in the last 6 months, prior to that it had been a LONG time since I was there. In June we stayed in downtown Brooklyn and Sept. in SoHo. The trip advisor site was really helpful explaining the subway system and we quickly adapted to using it. As long as you are ...

Looks like you have plenty of food and beach suggestions. I just wanted to say we stayed at Island Dreams and I think you will love it. It is a nice location, easy to get around from and quite a lovely villa, nicely appointed. We stayed there before the lower level was complete, so all living was on...

PA Girl...Good to know about driving around w/o speaking the language! With my limited knowledge I tend to think I would prefer the countryside rather than the cities as you do. I downloaded Rick Steve's podcasts and am half way thru my second one. I am currently listening about his love of travel b...

PA Girl...thanks for your input. I ordered 2 guide books this morning so that ought to help me focus in on what interests me. I am really at the very beginning of discovery as to what we might like to do. I will check out the Rick Steeve's podcasts. I saw some reviews of his travel guides but was no...

Help needed planning a visit to Germany

I have to say this trip is not totally expected, but I have time to plan, so I need HELP! My son is in law school and will study the fall semester in Hamburg as part of an exchange program. I am eager to study online , guide books, whatever, but I need some direction. Any suggestions as to what I ou...

Lex, I have been watching the Decorah eagle nest for weeks and am totally addicted! My sister lives in Iowa and sent me the link a couple months back before they hatched. I have learned to distinguish the mom and dad now know the birth order of the 3 young'uns. I am fascinated and leave the feed on ...

Minde, it is a short trek to HAulover North...not very far at all. We attempted to go there last year to snorkel but it happened to be very rough that day so we came back out and went elsewhere. Since we didn't stay I can't inform you on the shade so someone else will know for sure. You're getting s...

Minde I don't think Denis is a good choice for you...it's a bit of a downhill walk to get there and then back up after, at least from the Peace Hill parking area, if I remember correctly.

How about Francis?...relatively close parking and flat easy walk to a descent size beach.

Hey Jim... Pickles is a restaurant/bar at the Crown Bay Marina...on the water, open air. Easy place to pass some time ( knock down a few!) while you wait for the ferry once they take you from the airport to the dock. It is a very short ride from the airport. There is also a grocery store at that mar...

Jim, for newbies it is a nice way to get to St John. I have to agree with the other posters that if you have that service pre-arranged, vacation truly begins once you arrive at the airport...no worries about anything, luggage arrives in room in a timely manner....worth every dollar. We have used the...
