My daughter once shoved silly putty in a pocket of a favorite pair of pants...what a mess. I called Crayola, who owns silly putty (it was an 800 number) and on the recording it gave cleaning instructions. It was a few years ago since this happened, but it might be worth a try. I think the remedy was...

I had been following a travel blog on Radio Margaritaville's website, although it's not there anymore, about a couple who retired and are now sailing the Caribbean...pretty cool. They spent some time in Cartegena and posted about it.

To add to Becco's appeal, they offer a great wine list of $25 bottles...we sampled quite a few when we were there and it didn't break the bank. My husband ordered the shrimp appetizer special. He thought he'd get maybe 5 or 6 shrimp, but when the plate arrived, it was a full dozen, for around $12 I ...

We always like Becco, Lidia Bastianich's place on W. 46th St. Good food, great value.

Also, if you happen to do the Met, we love hanging out for cocktails on the 2nd floor overlooking the Great Hall. They have live classical music on Fridays and Saturdays 4-8. Have fun!

We stayed there in 2007 and have booked it again for November. It's a great place...absolutely love the garden showers. Views are lovely. The set-up of the Great Room pod and the bedroom pods ensure privacy. We liked the location too; close to Cruz Bay. All in all a great villa, no worries!

No need to be upset. We specifically go to STJ in Jan/Feb to escape the cold weather in PA. I find STJ simply gorgeous at that time of year. I cannot compare January to any other time of year as we've only gone during the winter, however, I would certainly not categorize the water as cold. To me, th...

Just a guess, could that be Seagrape Cottage on Little Thatch? I've had my eye on Seagrape for quite some time now, very secluded-looking place, gorgeous.

I second Becco. We love it there. It's a great value and you get a ton of wonderful food. Check out the website www.becco-nyc.com Good wine at a decent price as well. Also, if you get to the Metropolitan Art Museum, make sure you do happy hour on the mezzanine level. They have a classical quartet pl...

Airfare for Christmas vacation

I'm checking out airfare for the week between Christmas and New Year's, specifically PHL or EWR to STT. Right now, it's running a staggering $1100pp. We've typically paid between $400-500pp in January or February. Having never tracked airfare during the Christmas holidays, I'm wondering if w...

Go to STJ! We did a 4-night in January. Non-stop from Newark. We stayed at Caneel (I just waxed on and on about Caneel in another thread) It was a quick fix for us, wish we could've stayed longer but it was a nice little escape. Anyway, you said you'd probably stay in town, but I've read on the foru...

Like some others who have responded to this thread, we've done both Caneel and villa stays. It's really just a matter of what type of vacation you want. Do you want the option of staying in to cook, make lunches to take to the beach, prepare your own drinks, hanging out at the villa, or do you want ...

Caneel is simply amazing. We were there in January and stayed premium beachfront on Scott Beach (#s 67-86.) We were just in awe of the proximity of the rooms to the beach, literally 30 feet from your porch/patio and you were on the beach. Talk about ultimate convenience. The staff were so, so attent...
