Thanks so much for taking the time to write your reports.I just love reading them. Its a little taste of the islands for those of us who have many months before the next trip. We are considering STX for a trip, and don't hear much about it, so its nice to have your report.

The two of us stayed at Coconuts villa in May 2006. We really enjoyed it, and like the other poster, we spent a lot of time on the deck, in the pool and hanging out in the covered gazebo area. Its not an upscale villa, but I wouldn't call it shabby either. In May, we also found that the loft area wa...

I am just getting back to reading the forum again. Like others, I have been so busy with life, work, etc that it interfered with my forum participation. I am way behind on reading trip reports and I miss them! We have been to Nevis 3 times and St John twice (as well as 13 other islands - we are Cari...

I fess up, I haven't done any of mine yet. Pesky job and other life stuff is getting in the way of writing it. Also, hubby has some great pics, but he is still photoshopping them. I admit that I have had time to read some of the ones posted recently, so I should be writing. Soon come.

My husband took his prescription and ordered a mask through a local dive shop. (Its one that we have been to many times, and they are very helpful.) He also wanted bifocals so he could see his underwater camera buttons. He used the new mask on STJ in May and he loved it. He could see the screen on t...

Hubby and I stayed at Bayview the 2 weeks prior to Calif Girl's arrival and we completely agree with her assessment. The views are awesome, the 2 decks are wonderful and the house is just ok. Our first week there, it was very cool, rainy and windy most days, so we couldn't really enjoy the deck at n...

We used Bougainvillea car rental this year and last year. Very good experience with them and nice to deal with. They accommodated Sunday evening arrivals and have 4 or 5 parking spaces in front of their building. We always used their parking when in town. Its up the hill a little ways from the ferry...

Snorkeling on STJ compared to Cooper or Anegada?

I noticed that many of you have been to the BVIs, in addition to STJ, so I have a question for you. After reading some of the reports about Anegada (including Anthony's) and Cooper Island, we are thinking about spending some time on one of them before we come to STJ next time. We are avid snorkelers...

RickG - thanks for the great report. I have wondered about Grootpan and Kiddel, so I liked the detail about those places. Will hit them next time. I know exactly what you mean about enjoying that view and just gazing at it for a long time. We stayed in BayView on Ajax Mountain and loved the views fr...

Shopping on STJ

I wanted to give some highlights of the shopping we did on STJ because I may not get to my trip report for a little while. I am not much of a shopper (I know - its odd for a female) and would prefer to be on the beach or snorkeling, but I really liked several places worth mentioning. St John Spice -...

Live Music

We're back from almost 2 weeks on STJ, but that pesky job and other real-life stuff has gotten in the way of doing my trip report. I had asked about live music before we went and someone asked me to post info when I returned. For the time period we were there (Apr 23 - May 4), several places had liv...

We were there during Memorial Day week last year and it was pretty quiet on the island. No problem with crowds on beaches or restaurants. The only place that was always crowded was Starfish Market and the lines there are nothing compared to what I experience at home. The only beach that was "cr...

I agree with the others that $75 for private taxi is way too high. We had booked one to go to Red Hook for $30 for the 2 of us. We ended up going to CA due to the schedule. I really like the longer boat ride too. On our way back to airport, the taxi driver took the mountain route and it took almost ...

When we arrived on STT on April 23, we knew we could not make it to Red Hook in time for the 3pm ferry so we had our taxi driver take us to the CA ferry for the 3pm ride. It was a short drive from the airport. There were just a handful of people on the ferry and the ticket purchase process and loadi...

Well, here is a year-old night snorkel report. Last May, we did a night snorkel at Trunk Bay. We had snorkeled there during the day and it was so full of life, especially out past the snorkel trail along the little island, we wanted to do our night snorkel there. You don't have to go too far out to ...
