There's no way for them to block access to the actual park itself unlike some national parks. So you will be able to get to beaches. However, you can probably expect all other amenities to be locked up tight (snack bar, rentals, perhaps even bathrooms at Trunk and Cinnamon -- since no one will be ar...

TWo words: Dry Bag.

It's a good thing to have/take on any boat trip to avoid somethign getting wet that you don;t want to get wet.

It's also a good thing to bring to the beach.

Highly recommended for a visit to STJ in general.

as far as the eco-camp experience goes, make sure you have flashlights and extra batteries and be prepared for stairs (keep this in mind while packing). In addition to Miss Vies and Shipwreck you'll want to add the Tourist Trap to your restaurant list. It's one of my fave stops for lunch and very cl...

What Brenda said. Prior to finding out that we were expecting our bundle of joy this coming June, we had planned to spend two weeks in the VI-- 1 week on Jost and the second week on STJ. Both a lack of leave (needed for baby) and some early pregnancy complications forced us to change and ultimately ...

Yeah, no way you will make the 5pm Red Hook. And depending on how long it takes to get your luggage even making the 5:30 CA might be tight. Just check your watch and ask the taxi captain what he thinks you will make. Keep in mind that the CA ferry has ZERO amenities. There's only a small bench and m...

HAve you checked these folks out? http://www.stjohnbeautylounge.com/ I haven't been there personally but they look like they have their act together. One bit of advice though regarding hair and makeup on island: Conditions on STJ are HOT and HUMID. Neither of these factors are kind to hair and makeu...

Verace is great. Another fave spot for unique jewelry is R&I Patton in Mongoose Junction. Their gold is pricy but their silver peices are VERY reasonable. Lots of their stuff is very representative of nature and STJ. I esp like their pendants and earrings.

This is a frequent suggestion of mine to new and seasoned visitors alike. I have ever expereinced the kind of flight juggling going to any other destination like I do with flights to STT. You can't take ANY flight for granted and should repeatedly check your flight/reservation status every month, es...

Baby Gromit Update....

After a couple of really nice PM's from my wonderful forum family, I thought I would provide an update for anyone who is interested in the progress of my mini-gromit who is due to arrive June 18, 2011. First of all, after a rocky start and a couple of serious scares, Baby Gromit is doing REALLY well...

Folks on this forum generally use CSA and there have been many posts about how great they were when they had to pay up. They are highly recommended. We've used them in the past, but never had t make a claim.

Actually, Francis has enough space for anywhere from 10-20 cars depending on how well people park. The average is around 15. There's also room on the road leading up to Francis where people will squeeze in, so that you don't have to go all the way to the end of the road and park at Mary Creek. We ma...

I met Annie at the Jolly Dog (over by Shipwreck) a couple of years back. Super nice lady. LOVED her pendants which are really cute and unique. Really enjoyed chatting with her about her art and motivations. If you are lucky enough to meet her, DO spend some time talking with her. You won't regret it!

Hubby loves his vacay cigars. But haven't found cheaper prices than we pay here at home. He always brings his with him in a special pelican case designed for transport. we save a lot of $$$ that way. There used to be a cigar shop in dowtown Charlotte Amalie and also one in Cruz Bay but I think the o...
