STJ family looking for help

Even if you don't know Mike McDermott personally, you probably "met" him many times during his time working for The Beach Bar, Banana Deck and other local establishments. His sister, Jessie McDermott Daigneault has been a STJ resident for many, many years. Mike, now living in the San Franc...

Re: bequia

We were there last summer on a sailing trip and it was one of our favorite islands on the trip. It is much, much quieter than STJ, but there are some similarities. The whole Grenadines are much different than the VIs - not Americanized at all. They love their conch down there, I ate stew conch almos...

Re: Please welcome Vida de Mar

We have stayed here, too - and loved it! It's such a great location. Now I want to go back NOW! :D

There's not a whole lot of detailed information, but basically it sounds like someone partied too hard, hurt themselves somehow (fell down the stairs?), sued the Quiet Mon and Quiet Mon now has to close - - it wasn't clear if they are closing because they lost the lawsuit and can't pay the damages o...

Quiet Mon closing?

I heard through some FB posts that Quiet Mon is closing due to a lawsuit. Anyone know anything about this? This is very sad news if it is true.

Also, check out Vida de Mar in Dever's Bay. Five bedrooms, large pool, hot tub, and right on the beach. We loved it! Two of the bedrooms are in a beach house that is literally on the beach - I know one is two twins because we had a couple of teens stay down there. Google Vida de Mar - their website ...

Been to Bonaire or Curacao?

We traded a week at our villa on STJ for a week in a villa on Bonaire and our trip is coming up soon. We have never been there before and looking for tips and recommendations. We will also be on Curacao for a few days prior for New Years Eve! Any favorite things to do, places to eat, people to see? ...

Sorry to hear that about the bad weather. November is one of the more rainy months on STJ (something to think about when visiting), but usually not this bad. Hopefully things will dry out soon and the sun will shine again. How much longer are you on STJ?

I just gave $$$ as well as I know first hand what great work the ACC does. BUT I have to mention that they really need to get a better handle on their finances. Sounding the alarm when they have three weeks left before they close for good is not a good practice and will end up closing them in the lo...

I know this is probably heresy on this board, but frankly I have never found the Skinny Legs burger all that great. I think the reputation of the burger far outweighs the actual burger itself - as with any legend, it's always a let down compared to the hype. (Having said this, I have never had the b...

Let's say that one may be a wee bit of a sleepyhead and does not like to be up early - what time would one be able to go over to Coral Bay after the race starts? How long do they close the road?

Thanks for the help!

Question about 8 Tuff Miles day

So we are going to be on-island this year during 8 tuff miles. Two of my friends are registered to run it - my question is once you get over to Coral Bay, how do most people get back to Cruz Bay? I could pick them up, but I have no idea how long the road is closed.

Any input appreciated.
