Thank you for the links of info, JMQ! I got some good tips there. We are forming a game plan for Liat, but it will be a miracle if we and our luggage (dive gear) get there as planned. Barbados isn't the worst place I can think of to be "stuck". We are up for the adventure, and just hope we...

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I can't wait to go, but getting there is going to be interesting. We are flying from Charlotte, NC to Barbados on US Airways, then take Liat Airways to Grenada. All I have read on travel forums is that Liat cancels flights often, and their customer service is not...

Grenada

My husband and I pulled the trigger and booked a weeklong trip to Grenada. :D We will be going in a few weeks! We will be scuba diving a lot, but hope to explore the island some, too. I've seen interest in the past for Grenada on this forum, so if there is still interest, I will report back with our...

Cocoview is my kind of dive resort. I really love the laid back style, too. We went in the summer both times and it was perfect conditions for diving. Do they still have the talking parrots? When I was there one would sing "Jesus Loves Me" along with me, and another would say, "I'm a ...

Maggy, I am so sorry for the yucky weather & sickness you experienced in Roatan. I have been to Cocoview in Roatan a couple of times, and on both trips we had people in our group who got sick after a meal. Thankfully, I was spared both times, but at least half of our large group were down for a ...

If you're going to take Vicki's advise, you'd better add scissors to the list. Why not reduce the number of shirts/tops. You can always buy them on shore stops to bars if you feel you need them. You can even cut back on the toiletries. You never feel clean and fresh on a boat anyway--soon as ...

I email a copy of our itinery to a family member on both sides of our family (we both have elderly mothers), a key work person, and my best friend. I pack a few kitchen trashbags and several ziplock bags no matter where I go. The trashbags are great for packing damp clothing for the return trip. I a...

I check a dive bag with expensive gear when flying to the Caribbean and I never lock or ziplock it. TSA ALWAYS goes through it, but I've never had a problem with anything missing. That being said, carry on anything that is precious to you, irreplacable, fragile, cost you an arm & a leg,or is sma...

Gina, I am is the same boat as you. I work for my husband's business, managing the office. Our office & shop (construction business) is along the interstate, so we get LOTS of cold call from salespeople. We had to put a sign in our lobby that reads All Sales Calls are by Appointment Only . It be...

(And I didn't have to climb all those damn steps.) I, for one, hope you are planning another fantas...

I have been to Bonaire a couple of times. The most recent being February of this year. I agree with most of what has been posted above. It is VERY different from St John, but it has it's own charm.
