Re: First Friday - Mongoose Junction

Saw Visions play at Beach Bar last weekend. Some of the members are from the former Inner Visions, but it's definitely a different band. Their sound is similar - nice chill reggae vibe.

Re: Has John Head road reopened?

I ran that road today and Steve's description is accurate. It is almost fully paved and very passable.

Re: Zika is essentially over in the VI

This is intriguing. Not saying I don't agree with the data and this is totally anecdotal, but zika seems to be at its peak at my kids' school. Of course I didn't take my children to get tested because I didn't see the point and I'm sure there are many people who don't get tested.

If you're on St. John at any point, try Little Olive. Great Greek food using locally sourced ingredients. Very good!

Re: How bad is the weather?

Raining off and on, blustery here and there. It doesn't seem to me like we're getting the rain that was forecasted but there's still time (hopefully)!

Re: VI Hotel Tax

... but it's still a little annoying that the plan to increase the hotel tax wasn't thought through a little more by the V.I. government. Can you name one thing that that the VI Government has done that WAS apparently thought through? JIM Ha! Yes that went through my mind when I was replying but I ...

Re: VI Hotel Tax

Julie is right, it really wasn't made clear when the tax increase would be put into effect. Like many vacation rental owners, we already had several bookings for 2016 who were paid in full at the 10% rate when the increase was made official. We opted not to bill our guests already booked for 2016 th...

Re: Have to Cancel our April trip......

Hope I'm allowed to chime in here, I'm Kachi Ra's owner. I am so sorry again about your situation, Baileybay. To answer Charlie's question, the condo is at Pastory condos, one mile outside Cruz Bay via Centerline.

Eliza has a web site, www.elizamagrophotography.com. I really don't know how her work compares to other local photographers as I don't have much of an eye for that kind of thing, but I can tell you she's extremely friendly and professional.

I personally would rather do the walk to Lindholm. Seems to me there'd be less traffic -- or at least less speeding cement trucks -- traveling on that stretch of road, plus I think there's more of a shoulder for you to walk on heading up to Lindholm. To be honest, I've never made the walk from town ...

Unfortunately, the Friends' seminar series ends in mid-April.

I've had the pleasure of touring Trinidad Charlie's property, and I'd highly recommend it. His property is so lush with tons of plants, and of course, Charlie is as entertaining as ever.

You've already gotten some great advice, so I'll just second the recommendation: Baked in the Sun! They have delicious made to order cakes. They're on the third floor of The Marketplace, and their number is 693-8786 (just don't call during lunch hour as they get quite busy!)

There is indeed a tattoo shop on island. I've met the owner and she seems really good at what she does, and very professional and thorough. The shop is called Octopus Ink and the owner is named Pat. The phone number is 777-9954.
