Kachi Ra in Bethany

I searched this forum and only found a few posts that were somewhat relative to what I need. My wife and I are planning our 6th trip to St. John and will be staying a minimum of 4 weeks. One place, listed through VRBO, seems to fit our plan, but I can't seem to find much information and reviews on i...

In Italian (and in Spanish), my last name means cricket or grasshopper. The very first time I tried to get it as an online name, cricket was taken so I added a "t" and have used it that way ever since. My 2 awesome step kids call me crickett!

Bought an AT&T Go-Phone at Best Buy for $19.99 with $10.00 in minutes included on my way to Boston. I added $25.00 so we could call the kids back here in Canada everyday and worked perfectly everywhere I tried on island.

I just bought a Nikon D80 last week at the Royal Caribbean shop on St. John. I called them from home the week before to see if they had it and what the price was. It was much cheaper than I could get it anywhere around here... brought it back duty free and there is no sales tax on STJ. I saved quite...

Hi KROBI, We brought frozen fillet mignon, lobster tails, shrimp and a few other frozen items down last week. I went to our local fish market and asked them for one of the styrofoam containers they get their fish in. They showed me different sizes and gave me the one that was the right size. It had ...

Lex, I remember The Kite as being the best bar in the entire world too. Spent many a late night there before stumbling back to my campsite at Cinnamon Bay many many years ago. Great memories! I think the mystic of it has to do with the time of day as I remember it best (or don't remember it) at nigh...

In my opinion, the best part of high season is getting on the airplane in freezing cold temps (of course depending on your locale)... and then feeling the warm tropical air flood the airplane when they first open the cabin door in STT. That just puts it all in perpective for me!

Hi Lex... I have to admit that I am a bit dissapointed as I too love what you call cosmic coincidences. It's really unbelieveable how much this woman looks like my sister. If I can find a picture of her from that time, I'll post it.
Thanks for the response.

Lex, Do you know what year the second picture of the dockside was taken? I think the woman in the purple shirt and black shorts is my sister who camped on St. John in the late 70s... early 80s. I e-mailed her the pic and she thinks it might be her meeting a friend's ferry, but she isn't totally sure...

What great photos... thank you.
Does anyone remember the chicken bbq that was held on Thursday nights. It was held where the new ferry dock is (at least I think that's where it was)? That was the very first thing that started my love affair with StJ on my first trip in 1981.

Tap Room question

Does the Tap Room serve anything but beer? I am a big VI Pale Ale fan (traveled to RI last summer to buy a couple of cases) and no one else with me drinks beer. I really want to go and have a couple on tap and would like if we could all go. What else do they serve to drink? : )

provisioning question

Hi all... I've posted here a couple times before and have been a lurker for a long time... thanks for all the information I've gotten here. Four of us (my wife and another couple) will be staying at a villa the first week of March. My question... we want to have a dinner (nothing fancy), some snacks...
